i'm more confident about xbox 360 now x05 has happened. pg3 is the most visually impressive game i've ever seen, from an in-game perspective, and the gameplay looks great. kameo also looks great and pd0 is a 'wait til i've played it'. 3rd party stuff looks overall decent, with gow, mass effect and too human looking excellent.

Almost only positive reactions. I'm still not sure how they can say that there won't be a "hit" at launch. I think we gotta have to see (and play) the final games to find out ...

I love how everyone says there's not a "Halo" in the launch line-up, when Halo came right out of nowhere at launch. It didn't really get buzz until right before launch when the reviews hit.

The way PGR, PD0 and Kameo have all been ramping up, I don't think it's fair to say there's no killer app until the final versions are playable.

Oh, and Oblivion.

Great point. And not that it matters anyway as neither of the last 4 system launches (DC, PS2, GC, XB) had a clear cut "killer app" defined well before launch.

Halo was getting plenty of hype before the Xbox launch, it just happened to be on the PC/Mac sites. Halo was first shown at a Mac Expo and had gamers drooling. When MS bought Bungie, and locked up Halo for the Xbox, it sort of fell off the radar for a bit. I can assure you that I bought the Xbox at launch for Halo, and because I'd been following it's development for several years.

It's true though. PDZ has very limited appeal especially since it's gameplay mechanics and visuals which are unlikely to improve substantially are nothing special. Kameo isn't a title that would appeal to your average Xbox owner and a very small minority of people are going to drop $400ish at launch cause they can wait to play it. PGR3 is part of a series that we're all familiar with, including it's draw to consumers which isn't even close to that of something like Halo or Mario 64 not to mention cannibalism from the competition there will be in the racing genre. They're not gonna change in a mere two month especially when they could already be in certification. None of these titles even come close to measuring up as a killer title, history, the buzz, and especially the videos show it, and it's all from firsthand impressions. Your optimism has already been crushed by the reality of the situation even before launch champ, sorry.
