XBL: Games with Gold

Crimson Dragon is fun. Strike suit zero I deleted before finishing the tutorial.

Nobody has made a decent space shooter since Colony Wars dammit.

Yager was amazing, if unpolished. And technically, it takes place just above the planet's surface, not in space. Dark Star One and Project Sylpheed were decent, too.

I'm pretty sure that X-Wing: Alliance was after Colony Wars as well.

My wee boys and I are really enjoying Motocross Madness. Exploration mode is perfect for a 4 and 2 year old. Nice hidden gem that I would never have played if it wasn't for GWG.

I started playing Crismo Dragon. Hollyshit, what the fuck is this. I know I shouldn't complain about the free game and all. But this game is horrible. Gotta be the worse game I have playing this year. My condolences to people who bought it before it went free. I don't think this is worth it even if its free lol.

SSZ looks alright, only played little bit so far.

So I grabbed Crimson Dragon even though I had very little interest in it. I read some reviews and watched enough gameplay to know it isn't my type of game at all, but decided to fire it up for a couple of minutes and give it a try.

It took me about 2 missions to get into it and over the last couple of days I've spent a couple of hours every evening playing it (and finished it last night on the easy mode). While I agree that it isn't a great game, I did find it very entertaining and it did a really good job motivating me to keep playing by using upgrade rewards as well as achievements. It might have the best achievement pacing I've seen in a game in a long time, it feels like you are constantly unlocking great achievements, and it keeps you motivated (assuming you enjoy achievements).

Anyway, I just wanted to mention that it definitely is worth a try, even if it isn't your type of game. Don't just skip it, since I had a huge amount of fun playing through the game.

how does Strike Suit Zero play? im curious it hasnt dled for me yet but crimson dragon is meh for me. wouldnt have bought it regardless

SSZ is OK. I'm not real familiar with the genre, so it seemed kind of hard at first.

Once I got the hang of it, the gameplay is engaging and the story is decent. Just finished the main campaign last night, and my only complaint is that it lacks gameplay variety.

The optional objectives are linked to the upgrades, so it seems like the game would be harder if you ignored them.

I got most of them as I progressed, though. Still have to do Aftermath where you have to stop all the torpedoes. That's probably easy too, but it gave me all kinds of trouble the first time through.

My Xbox 360 HDD is so full..4.7GB free. And that is already deleting a few things. Need to delete installations. I have a spare 250GB HDD, but I can get over $50 from GS for it so..

SSZ plays like an old school spaceflight game. Escort, Defend, Intercept. Think of it as kinda like wing commander but with a homeworld-esqe art direction.

They both look like last gen XBLA games to me.
They are downloaded and pinned for attention when I have free time.

Crimson Dragon is a last gen XBLA game. ;)

It was ported to the XBO for launch, but was accidentally released on the Japanese XBL for a few hours at the end of 2012. A handful of people downloaded it (including someone on GAF, there was a thread), but so far the public demo hasn't been made widely available AFAIK.

I managed to delete a few things, and get up to around 20GB free. The boot up and storage access is still so so slow though. Is that before it is so full? On the 4GB S with 250GB it would boot and access storage very quickly. But it wasn't used at all.

I feel exactly the same way. I tried playing it co-op with my friend to level some dragons and stuff, but I just wasn't feeling it at all. The game just isn't fun for me. I'm not sure how he likes it as much as he does. Glad I didn't throw down on it when it was on sale for $10 awhile ago.

Hopefully September's offerings are more entertaining for me.

I don't own a 360 currently, and when I tried to claim Dishonored, it failed and the site gave me this response:

Is this your first purchase? To ensure it is compatible, please sign in to Xbox LIVE using your console and try again.

Never had that happen before. Is there a specific scenario where this occurs?

I'm certain it's because all versions of the game are region locked (and possibly IP locked too). I had a similar issue when I tried to download Sleeping Dogs back when it was free, and that was another region locked game. I can't download/buy either of those two games, regardless of whether I try via the website or the console, because my 360 is imported.

I suppose MS wants to make sure that someone using the website doesn't accidentally buy a GoD game with region coding that happens to be different from the person's current/future 360 console.

I predict another month of disappointment unless one of the below games are GwG (or Diablo 3 or Sniper Elite 3 but I'm buying those either way).

Funny how Lococycle has made all prediction lists since day 1. People want this game Ms ! :P
It's probably one of the few games that few people own hence why it makes it to the prediction/wish list every time.

I'm fine with anything I don't own, since it has started there's been nothing on GwG that I didn't already bought :(

I wish Microsoft would just give Ryse away to stop it being endlessly speculated upon.

Dead Rising 3 free at the same time as the PC release would be nice though I can't see it.

Crimson Dragon is amazing and very replayable but Strike suit zero is semi-shit because has bad controls, im in stage 6 and i no think continue more beyond this point.

For next month i want Strider and Super Time Force or Child of Light.

I doubt they put AAA titles how RYSE, Forza 5 or Dead Rising 3.

When do they announce the games approx.?
IMO we will see

Xbox One
Zombie Driver UE or Trials Fusion
Zoo Tycoon

Xbox 360
Far Cry 3 or Forza Horizon
can't say which XBLA, as there are so many...maybe one of the Might & magic

The predictions and expectations by some of the posts above are just ... Insane. No wonder there are always disappointed people caused by "free" games with these totally unrealistic expectations.

Im hoping we start getting some new games day 1 from ID@Xbox with the releases due over the holidays...

My prediction percentage for Xbox One is at 100%, and that was for Crimson Dragon. No idea what to go for this time though for XB1, but for Xbox 360 I'm going to guess Dead Space 1, because I was talking about it with a friend of mine, and I never had gotten around to buying it.

Would have to think about the arcade guess for 360, I'll do that later.

I'm thinking:

Fruit Ninja Kinect 2
Worms Battleground (the online population on this game is abysmal, they need ot get it in more people's hands)

Bonus: Maybe a free starter pack for Warframe which is out on the 2nd(?)

What games can we expect then ?

I think Strider has a chance since it was a PS Plus game last month. Also Outlast seems like a good contender -- it kind of flew under the radar after release.

These are also both great guesses. Fruit Ninja Kinect 2 seems like the perfect GwG game, but I don't doubt it would cause a stir if given away free as it's Kinect only.

Hey guys, does GWG work like PS+. Like, if I bought a sub, would I be able to "buy" the free games for the X1, without owning the machine (via the online store?)
