Go to settings-power settings- and change "Instant On" to "Energy Saver". What you are doing now is unplugging the system while it is running and it is not shutting down. This can potentially screw up a lot of things, updates being installed, downloads, saves, and of course the hardware itself.

What you are doing is very bad for the system. It would be like yanking the cord on a PC while it is in sleep mode.

Mine is in energy saver because I like my electronics to be off when I'm not using them and when I go to sleep my power strips go off. It may take a minute or so to boot up but that is the trade off.

I have a strip that I turn off and one that is always on. So some stuff is always on and some stuff is off most of the time.

I actually bought Dark Souls GoD a while back and only recently got round to playing it but I'm interested to hear from anyone that's now downloaded it - are you experiencing any frame rate issues?

I find it is really chugging in large/open areas of the game and I've heard that this can be an issue with GoD versions of a game. Anyone else having this? Does it help to clear out some HDD space?

Try installing the game to USB. That should help.

what? seriously? i have like 100gb avail on my HDD, and the game chugs hardcore... im expected to install it to an external in order for it to run functionally? (i dont have 4GB usb sticks... because i have LARGE HDDs in my consoles....)

Not sure if it applies to this game but some games are designed to read data from the disc and harddrive cache (or installed data) at the same time.

This doesn't work when both the cache (or install data) and the actually disc data are on the harddrive.

Thanks for your reply - I don't actually have a USB stick to put it on though! Having played a bit more I've kind of adapted to it and it's only really bad in a couple of areas, most notably the
Ruins of Londo - big subterranean lake area
 
Anyone else having problems with playing Dark Souls online? Was trying to play with a friend earlier today and I couldn't see his summon sign. Also got to about level 14 and it stopped letting me level up. It doesn't allow me to download any patches or anything of the link. Very disappointed, any solutions?

I'm going to eke whatever GS I can out of H:SA, but it is pretty terrible.

My experience with Max was a lot like my experience with Child of Light. I adored it for the first half or so, but the charm wore thin in the second half.

Played Spartan Assault for 30 mins and haven't touched it since, feels like a mobile/F2P game tbh. It's not *that* terrible I guess but I'd have been annoyed if I'd paid for it.

Max Cotb on the other hand is great fun and I really like the magic marker mechanic. Solid game I'd recommend people trying.

GwG version is unpatched, so you can only join other GwG players. Have your friend download from GwG or find a retail version.
 
I would love to see Microsoft give us Forza 3 or 4 as next months 360 game. Afaik they haven't given us a racing game yet - just a ton of open world games. Off the top of my head crackdown, saints row 3, sleeping dogs, dead island... let's give the racing genre some love!

same, except I gave it about 3 hours and couldn't get past the undead borg. never has a game made me feel like I was wasting my time like dark souls. the game just isn't for me. sucks really, I love the art direction/music/open endedness.

It should be either Horizon 1 of PGR4. Forget mainline Forza, its time has passed.

horizon 1 still sells at a reasonable level since there is no horizon 2 yet, would be silly to throw it out for free after a £10 sale this week.

Forza 3 is a little dated, great game but 4 is tons better... so expect Forza 2 next month!
 
Does anyone know if the developers of the free games with gold get royalties? Any ideas on how much Xbox pay them e.g. Per copy or a once off payment for being the free game offered?

I've played about an hour of Dark Souls and so far liked what I've played
even though those skeleton warriors you encounter while exploring the Firelink Shrine for the first time keep f***ng me up
.
 
On Xbox One are you able to purchase the free games after downloading them? Just in cases where the game gets taken off the store or if there's a game I decide I want permenantly in my collection? PS+ is horrible in this regard so I tend to avoid using it on games that actually interest me at all.

I asked a while ago but got no response.
 
Forza Horizon has just been on sale(I got it)
PGR 3 and 4, and Forza 3 I already have.
If it's going to be a racing game I hope it's Forza 4!

You can't. It doesn't allow it through the console or the Web storefront.

Edit: However, now that I think about it, if your Xbox Live subscription expired, you would be able to purchase it then, at least through the console.

Okay. In that case I'll just be using it for weird niche games that I wouldn't normally buy, then buy the games I'm actually interested in buying.
 
Just wanted to chime in and say Max is awesome. I beat it a couple of days ago and while some of the physic puzzles could be a little too trial and error it was still an overall good time.

I don't think it will be Peggle, because it's a good seller with long legs.
Powerstar just went F2P'ish.

KI maybe, the other 2 are more likely.(and I would prefer them, because I don't have them!)
