in PAL territories the xbox1 (unmodded) does not have the option to chose progressive scan..

playing xbox1 games on pal 360 with a component cable.. surely all xbox1 games will be in progressive scan (480p) by default then? Halo 2 looks real bad with a scart-connector on my HD-ready 32" Sony Bravia TV

With 360 those games will be bumped up to 1080i or 720p and have new smoothing methods (AA & AF). But that all depends if that is one of the initial compatible games, you may have to wait for a DL. As well I'm not sure that games that don't support PS will work, examples being Hitman series, and TMNT....both having no progressive scan.

There was a rumor in OXM that Halo 2 would be 720p on the 360. But I don't know if it's been confirmed since then.

Oh... well the way he said it was like it was a fact. Would be cool news if true though, but I am skeptical, to say the least.

I think stinkles said to the effect (but not outright) that Halo 2 was in 720p in an age old Xbox 360 emulating Xbox games thread, then again my head could be full of bullshit on that. Either way im hoping atleast that much happens, also hoping my PAL Xbox 360 will let me play my US copy of the original Halo as its so much better than the PAL version.

Probably will, after all PAL games work fine doing 480p on a chipped Xbox barring titles that dont support it like the games SanjuroTsubaki mentioned.

Well, while I have no 100% sure confirmation of this, it seems quite likely from what I've heard.
