16x stochastic FSAA
FP32 blending, texturing
Programmable Primitive Processor/Tesselator

you're a bit late. Those arn't confirmed specs of anything. The Xbox core is supposed to be a R500 not an R520, the R520 is the rumoured card that's coming out in May from ATI and even these specs arn't confirmed for the card.

We even had a big thread about it!

doubt xenon GPU would have 512MB memory. and yeah, I believe the xenon GPU is the R500 line.

Why? It sounds about right. Remember this may be Unified architecture like the previous Xbox.

If that sounds right to you... check out the price of a ATI X800 XT card with 256mb... now try to estimate the price of the card when it comes out in May... Are you planning to buy an MS console that costs over 500+$? Even is they cut out features and keep the ram it still will be insanely expensive with that chipset posted up top.

And a partridge in a pear tree...

yeah if its UMA, then 512 is definitely feasible. just the GPU alone though, doubtful.
edit:

from what i understand, xenon GPU will be more advanced. and the price issue does not apply, as MS will manufacture it themselves in bulk.

i really don't see them going for less than 512MB total system memory.

Damn M$ & Sony , who need better graphic .. I just want to play a decent graphic Games with EXTRA fun ..

also , Damn Nintendo , who needs a "New" way to play -.- ?

next gen gonna suck ...
for me , N64+PC = I am happy ..

50+GB /sec for unified memory access just sounds way off.

and what are the ALUs there for? surely the vertex stuff would be offloaded onto the CPUs, otherwise there is no point having such a powerful CPU.

Sounds like a PC card to me.

The R500 was scrapped. The Xenon GPU is based on the R520 design with some additions.

no.

the R400 was scrapped or withheld. the technology was re-worked into the R500 for Xbox2, and it is probably complete now. this technology is being re-worked again into the R600 for PCs for 2006.

the R520 is ATIs spring/summer VPU for PCs. it is yet another a overhaul of the R300 core, which was already overhauled once as the R420.

The R400 was scrapped when the Loki core was started (R420) aka X800 Pro. That's all old ass news. What's new, and less documented, is the R500/520 design paths. 500 was scrapped in order to combine design efforts for the next gen Xenon & PC designs. Xenon's core is based on the 520.

source? i haven't seen this mentioned at Beyond3D or anywhere else. I guess we'll see in a few short months.

Sony have the (C) on good specs... if it's MS and next gen related, then it's obviously bullshit. ;)

*for the record, the Ps3 >>> Xbox2, but... hell, that's not the entire story is it , but i'm sure the fanboys will jizz over this)

??? MS has a VPU fab plant?
