Xbox 2 launch details

Of course not, but they were all flagship titles. From the sound of things, Rare has been working on PDZ for a long time now. I figure it will be their only launch title.

Your first statement was untrue, though. It's good to stay pessimistic with Rare trying to get a title out for launch because, well... It's Rare.

Fable 2 please. That would be awesome

It's coming, but not at launch.

I think Perfect Dark Zero will a bunch of other fill in titles (Like Madden, ESPN, etc.) will be fine. Halo 3 is for the PS3 launch.

I hope it is quick and easy to transfer my Xbox Live! account onto Xbox 2.

I reckon Factor 5 are making a Star Wars game for the Xenon right now. We know they moved onto next-gen like...I dunno, a year ago, and as Sony haven't revealed that much even now except to major developers and we've had reports that they're no longer going to be working so cloesly with Nintendo, MS seems like a safe bet.

My guess would be a Rogue Squadron online title. The Xenon is obviously perfect for that and I seem to recall some mention that they'd like to take the series online in a past interview...or maybe he just said they didn't want to make ANOTHER Rogue Squadron game unless they could do something new, like take it online.

It makes sense for all parties involved though. Star Wars battles online, original trilogy, Rebels v Empire, would be huge.

Nope. Sorry, that's not it. Lucasarts accidently revealed it via an online survey a few months back. It's a Republic Commando sequel for PC/Xbox 2.

Oh I wasn't actually referring to the launch title mentioned, it was just the mention of Star Wars and Xenon brought the thought to my mind again. I didn't exactly make that clear.

I will only buy Xenon if the Mistwalker RPG lands on it.

I'm sorry for you. I truly am. No greater words have been spoken than pledging your allegiance to a console based on a game from a brand new unproven developer before we even know what the game is about.

Hmm....if you make enough guesses based on current rumors, and add in a bunch of sequels to current games....you're bound to get some things right.

Is no backwards compatibility definite? It pretty much determines whether I buy it or not.

Last I read they were having trouble with it, but still working on a software solution. It's nearly a deal-breaker for me, too. I just got Halo 2 and with other games of that calibur coming so close to Xenon launch, I don't want to give up having easy access to them and support a new system.

It's very, very big deal.

Do you guys have TVs that have 1 A/V Input or something? I don't see why its so difficult to have BOTH Xenon and Xbox at the same time.

There have been a few articles like a couple of months ago saying they are working on it. IMO it will be available, either with the system or maybe as an add on.

Yes. I've got five Y-cables stuffed into the back just to get my TV just to run my XBox and other medial players going.

haha "unproven" Sakaguchi has made some of the best FF's ever, his games rock. I am pretty sure that his first game will be labled a "Final Fantasy killer"

I hope its for Xenon. I am sick of Sony.

no but I have 15 systems hooked up to my tv not counting my DVD player, so one system less I could have out there the better

and didn't Valve say awhile ago that Half Life 2 would eventually come to all the next Gen systems? has that changed?

15 systems? You must have a VERY crowded entertainment center. Honestly though, how often do you play some of those things? Once every few months? Unhook them -_-

For what its worth, I used to run that website until the convicts took over the asylum and banned me. Curll knows absolutely nothing, he is the same guy who made up the Rare owns Star Fox/Zelda rumors. This is all BS for a website just trying to generate hits. They didnt go to E3, yet they had 'reports' from E3 pretending that they were there and made up fake impressions that were negative about top games so that they could *gasp* generate hits.

why?

I enjoy having them hooked up and able to play when ever I want

and it's laid out quite well

When I finally got a PS2 I was able to put the PS away, when I get a PS3 I can put the PS2 away, same with my gamecube when the revolution comes out

Thanks Sony and Nintendo

I don't remember Valve saying that, but I could be wrong. Who knows? Valve may be the next developer Microsoft picks up.

I could have sworn when they said they were bringing HL2 to Xbox that theyd bring it to Xbox now, and then bring it to all the next gen systems when they came out

and UGH I'm getting sick of all these huge developers buying up smaller ones I REALLY hope MS DOESNT buy Valve

King Kong's not gonna make the launch. They just Started production a month ago.

King Kong will be in stores in time for the movie's release next December, so it's possible to be a near-launch title.

Thats a good launch line up!

Doubt it will be that good! But I think I am in at PAL launch if there are no mechanical prob’s with the US models.

I kind of doubt we'll see Shadowrun at launch. I thought they had Crimson Skies 2 in development for Xbox 1 anyway.

Maybe by Christmas? Should be worth the wait if it's 2006.

But if there's something that will make everyone cheer like the Zelda demo it will be a bad ass Shadowrun trailer at the unveiling. Anyone who was a Genesis gamer loves that game.

Did the first ShadowRun even sell that well? I don't hear any real clamorings for a new ShadowRun except in geek circles and I've heard no praise for the first ShadowRuns in regards to sales.

Doesn't really matter. With the right marketing (and a decent game), any 'unknown' game can be a big success. How else would we have big new and previously unknown successful games, then?

Xenon's going to have a big launch lineup, no doubt about it...though, I don't think this is a correct list. MS needs to have a big lineup at launch, otherwise it's pointless to release early.

This launch line-up looks very attractive, but maybe a bit ambitious?
When is CES exactly in january?
Bill Gates keynote is on January 5. But I doubt he will present any game, only tech demos and maybe to console design/packaging and the "vision".
And like I said before, that list is not that far from the truth. Xbox 2 launch is shaping up to be one of the most impressive ever.

Halo 3 for PS3 launch would be no surprise. It's obvious the finale of H2 was hacked off for some reason. I guess H3 will start with Master Chief ripping his way through the Ark...

Perfect Dark Zero - if it's good enough it's good enough. Joanna Dark isn't the most well known character in videogaming, but neither was Master Chief when Halo launched. Battlefield 1942 II is more likely to make a bigger splash, especially Live enabled.

And im glad to see Half LIfe 2 moving onto Xbox 2. I was going to wait for the Xbox 2 version anayway, Id much rather play the game on my home cinema setup.

Half-Life 2 development moved from Xbox to Xbox 2 a while ago. With all-new features exclusively for Xbox 2

Well, that must have been a couple of weeks ago. They said something about HL2 coming to Xbox less than a month ago...

I hope FASA cranks out a Crimson Skies 2 early next gen.

Microsoft needs a platformer at launch next gen that's actually got a bit of market appeal to it. Oddworld don't cut it. Something like a Jak, R&C, or Sly.

The one thing that the Xenon has going for it is that the engines for Half Life 2, Doom 3, and Unreal 3 have all been designed to be very flexible over a wide range of specs. I don't think we've seen any of the three engines at anywhere near the full potential (definitely not Unreal 3). And I'd assume given what is rumored about Xbox 2 that it could definitely push Doom 3 and Half Life 2 to the max. Unreal 3 I'm not so sure.

As much as I had fun with CS, I'd really like them to let go of the hand-holding, dumbed-down for the masses, easy-peasy control scheme in a sequel. Don't get me wrong...the whole, aerial Twisted Metal feel of CS was great...for a while...but the lack of lasting depth hurt the longevity of the experience for me. I want a more full sense of flight control, but still slightly console-ified...something modelled after the control found in Sky Odyssey would be perfect.

Don't count on it.

I'd say Kameo is a very likely candidate as a launch title.

This list smells like B.S. The guy who dreamt up this list also forgot that all those sports titles would be '2007' versions if they will launch in 2006.

BS or not (could be, I do not know anything about EA's plans), if these are launch titles they will be released in 2005. So...
