My super-secret console-licking moles have unearthed a few more Xbox 360 gems worthy of posting. OK, actually the mole doesn’t lick consoles and really it’s just one gem. Apparently, the Xbox 360 will be sold at two price points. For $299 you will get the base system which doesn’t have a hard-drive or backwards compatibility. For another $100 you get the system bundled with some sort of optional add-on which will include WebTv.

Taking a page from the PSP-launch playbook, I’ve been told that about 80 percent of the systems initially produced will be bundled with the add-on. So unless you feel like waiting, you’ll be plunking down nearly $400 for your Xbox 360.

So for an extra 100 you get BC, HDD, webTV and more?

It's like a illness isn't it? "my sources" "inside information"

They should launch it next month for $399 with a catridge slot for add-ons and then release a 56K modem that plugs into the cartridge slot for $219.

What the hell is WebTV, like a TIVO? I don't watch TV besides 24 on Monday's so I don't need a damn TVR... waste of space...

No, it's a web browser for your TV. :lol :lol :lol :lol

What a dumb feature. This crap was impressive on the Dreamcast.

There's a BIG difference between plunking down the rumoured $249 and $400 for a 360. Add to that 3 launch games, second controller and you have ~$630.

:O

Dumb feature? Not at all. Browsing in HD would be cool! It shouldn't be an excuse to raise the price, though.

Why would that be cool? Everyone has a computer at this point.

What The Hell???

Didn't the Dreamcast have a WebTV disc so that it could use the WebTV network ?

back in 1998-1999, in Japan. and it was released

unfortunately, these kind of threads will only multiply as e3 draws nearer. makes people all giddy. and when nerds get giddy (you know, us), their imagination freaks out and this is the result. :lol

I don't watch TV very often, but webTV could be a pretty cool feature. I don't mind spending the extra hundred to get that along with bc, and a hard drive. I don't own an Xbox now, but I'm relatively sure that I'll the 360 or whatever when it comes out.
