Xbox 360 Controller for Windows

Xbox 360 Controller for Windows

Xbox 360™ Controller for Windows®, a wired gaming controller that works with Windows XP-based PCs and the new Xbox 360 system to deliver a consistent gaming entertainment experience across Microsoft’s gaming platforms.

Any idea when this will come out?

I have not seen it listed on Amazon.com

Was a very comfortable controller at E3, nice to have one for PC gaming too!

Would it not make more sense for microsoft to sell an addon wireless USB RF Receiver?

Tthe x360 pc controller is wired only.... at least at first.
Joining the Game Precision Series later this year, Microsoft will be introducing a version of the controller for its upcoming Xbox 360 gaming console for PCs. Dubbed the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, only a wired version of the controller will be available initially and is to be compatible solely with the Windows XP platform. Due out in November of 2005, the controller will bear a manufacturer's suggested retail price of$45 USD.

Well, the controller can't exactly be wireless, since it would require a receiver as well. I doubt there will be a PC wireless Xbox controller sold, just a wireless dongle only so you can use the normal wireless controller

I'm buying a wired controller at launch so I can finally play my emulators with something other than a keyboard and mouse.

I would like to know the price for this controller...

The regular X360 wired controller is $40.

I think this one is $45, and it probably comes with drivers on a cd and instructions for installing them.

Anyone know if the wireless controller plugged into a PC using the Charge and Play kit will work? I'm wondering if it will 1. work as a pc controller, and 2. charge the batteries. Haven't seen anyone talk about this.

I think the P&C kit only charges the controller. I don't think it has anything to do with sending input data back and forth with the system.

If its USB then yes it can charge like a million other devices that use USB.

The $5 is for the CD-ROM with WinXP drivers.

I'd like confirmation that 1) the wireless controller with the play & charge kit will work with the PC and 2) Windows XP will see the headset, like the original Xbox controller.

that's assuming some sucker actually goes out and buys it.

If I knew anything about PCs at all, I'd know not to spend $5 for a CD with drivers. At that point you're relying largely on non-PC savvy people to getthe drivers online.

I'd imagine the CD could only be for using the headset. No reason why the gamepad itself should require drivers.

wait wait, you can use the Headset as well? AWESOME.

That reminds me, how does the headset work? Does it plug into the controller?

yeah you should be able to use the headset... and yeah, you just plug it in...

i mean, the drivers for Xbox let you use the xbox live adapter and headset...

it might .. or at least a *.inf file .....

anyways .. I am excited for this controller being usable with PCs, given all the positive impressions about this controller :)

Guys....if Microsoft is selling this, what are the chances we will be allowed to use our PC controllers on the X360?

If not, do forsee a third party like Lik Sank or whoever creating an adaptor that will allow this? I really really REALLY want to use a certain non force feedback wheel with my Xbox 360!

No chance at all, officially, the controllers use encryption and authentication. MS doesn't want any unauthorized controllers on the 360.

In the Play& Charge thread, one of our forum members (who works for Activision. Can't remember your name, sorry :() has said that if you plug the P&C kit into the wireless controller and the PC, the wireless controller stops using the wireless functionality, and sends data back and forth over the USB cable. He went on to say that Windows sees that it's connected, but as the drivers aren't out yet, you can't use the controller.
