There's x360 demo pods all over the place here in the UK. I was wondering, how representative are the demos of the final games? Are these E3 demos or are they pretty much the final game?

We also tried the different resolution settings and trust me, you REALLY want an HD set for this baby. The 480P signal is lightyears away in screenquality compared to the 720P settings. ....

Yeah, well, really, the regular 480i signal on Call of Duty 2 could very well be a really good XBox-1 game. Bumpmaps on the characters from the Kameo Demo totally dissapear in the transition from 720p to 480i. Yup pretty bad indeed.

@heidern : well, the Cod2 demo moves a lot smoother compared to the E3 level. Kameo is exactly the same as the X05 demo, still awsome to behold on 720p !

Hell yes they do. Today I was killing time on a demopod at my GameStop and a 'gangsta' walked in with his girl (who was beeming at a new pair of expensive boots), took a look at the 360 and relayed a wonderful little tidbit to his 'biyatch':

"Yo gurl, you gon have to return dem boots. I'ma get me one o' dese hurr Xbox 3's in a minute!"

Um to be fair you were trying 480p on a fixed pixel display so obviously it isn't going to look nearly as good as its native resolution.

Yeah, quality wise your right. But the downscale in resolution is pretty noticible, even upscaled again to 720p, your still losing the extra information in the 720p signal.

Trust me, a lot of people are going to be very dissappointed when they see the difference between the instore demo units and their own set at home.

The answer to that will only mean anything if they tried the 720p on a 720p-native device and 1080i on a 1080i-native device. If they tried them both on the same tv, whichever one is the TVs native res will always look better.

True, though the difference isn't all that pronounced on the same set. Trust me, detail and effects are definately a LOT less effective and generally NOT that impressive in 480p.

By the way, made a mistake, the kiosk machine doens't supprt regular sets, no 480i mode supported. I have a feeling MS doens't want the world to know what its high n mighty 360 looks like on a regular set ... no ?

I'll drag the machine to a friends house. His set is native 480p so makes for a better comparison.
