XBox 360 iPod problem HELP

uggh.. so I downloaded the iPod update for my 360. I plugged my ipod in and can see all of my songs. but I can't PLAY any of my songs. well, almost.

I can (ironically enough) play my purchased songs that I have ripped DRM from, but I can't play any of my ripped songs. My songs were encoded using Nero 6 and work fine on everything. DVD player, itunes, ipod, and even streamed to other itunes over sharing on my network (and even xbox itunes sharing). The xbox 360 is the first system that WILL NOT play any of my AACs.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix for it? Hell, if it is even an AAC modification/repackaging that I have to do and can accomplish it with a script that would be great.

unfortunately that doesn't help at all. :(

ok, here is the problem explained a little more clearly.

1. I cannot play any AAC files I created myself
2. I cannot play any protected AAC files I purchased from iTunes that are still protected
3. I CAN play protected AAC files from iTunes that I ripped protection from using jHymn

point 2 I realize will never happen and I'm fine with that. Point 3 I expected and was pleased to see it work. Point one is the sticking issue. My iPod is recognized just fine. I can see the files, the X360 even read the MP4 tags because it reads all of the Artist and Song info just fine. Even SmartPlaylists work and I can see all of my static playlists and Smart Playlists.

But I can't listen to any songs I ripped myself. They weren't done using iTunes because at the time I started iTunes didn't have a VBR encoder. However, they work fine in my ipod, itunes, streamed over itunes sharing, even to my XBox and XBMC using itunes sharing. The X360 is the only system that won't play my ripped AAC files. Is anyone else having this problem?

You can download the AAC I-Pod player from the Xbox Live Marketplace. I believe the download is in the 'dashboard' download menu or nearabouts.

Microsoft doesn't charge for it, do they?

I already have the ipod support. that isn't the problem.

the problem is that it plays some of my aac files, but not others. essentially it plays the ones encoded with itunes, but won't play the ones encoded with nero. the problem is even worse because the only itunes AAC files I have are the ones from iTMS that I have stripped DRM from (maybe 30 or so, before iTMS6 launched), The remaining 6000+ songs are in Nero AAC which play fine on every other device program I can find to handle AAC. The XBox is the only device I have that can't play the Nero 6 encoded files.

no. It is a free download that recognizes your ipod and supposedly plays AAC files, though apparently at this point it looks like it only works with AAC files created through iTunes only.

It seems from what you are saying, it doesn't like something to do with AAC's ripped using NERO.

Looks like you are going to have to re-rip.

or more correctly MS screwed me over because I sure as hell ain't ripping 450+ albums all over again when the X360's sketchy plugin is the only thing not recognizing them.

That sucks :(
I have some nero encoded aac as well (from allofmp3.com). This is not good news for me if you can't get these to work. Keep us posted.
