Xbox 360 Playable at Leipzig Games Convention

Square Enix has revealed that its upcoming Xbox 360 version of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), Final Fantasy XI, will be playable to the attendees of the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, which runs from August 17-21.

heh, though i'm not sure he'll be updating from the show ;)

also, blim, i know english isnt your first language and your site is 99% media, but how about some hands on with playable games as well? at the very least, please post impressions at GAF asap. thanks

Unfortunately for many different reasons I won't be able to go there. I'll have someone with a camcorder sending me videos though.
And as far as I know, no 1st/2nd party xbox360 titles will be playable.
 
I'll be there. I think we will see the E3 versions of most games but there should be a few surprises behind closed doors (which shouldn't be a problem for me since I know some people there).
As Blimblim said I don't think that usual showgoers can play the 1st/2nd party games. Please keep in mind that Games Convention is a public event and not just for media and trade like E3. But I absolutely expect that both first and second party software are indeed playable behind closed doors and I'm so looking forward to get my hands on those :)

There are some great developers for all systems at Games Convention like Marcel Ancel, Hideo Kojima, Seabass, Bruce Shelley and many, many more.

I'll see what I can do to bring you impressions and pictures straight from the show or at least the days afterwards...
 
I don't think there will be E3 versions of any of the Xbox 360 games. I can be wrong but since the beta hardware is completely different (and looks like an actual Xbox 360, only black) I think the developers and MS will want to show the games running on it. And it's not just a matter of recompiling the code, we can expect better versions of all games.
As for 1st/2nd party stuff, I expect MS will have some people doing demos like during E3.

I'm not so sure about beta kit stuff... maybe the want to show this for the first time at X05 in Europe. I'll try to find out some more informations...
I have heard of new Perfect Dark Zero stuff at GC by the way. Not sure how believable my source is in this case.
 
I'll be in Leipzig from the 17th (media day) until the 20th of August.
Yehaw - I'm looking forward to the Xbox 360.

You can expect some impressions of 360 games from me =)
 
there is a chance I'm going.. will it be possible to see Hideo Kojima & get a signature as a regular visitor of the convention? I'm dying to get my sealed copy of MGS signed.

I met Hideo Kojima last year in the business center and at the Konami stall.

Scott Dolph was together with Mr. Kojima in Leipzig.
Kojima himself can't speak English, Scott Dolph translated my bad English into Japanese. ^^

crazy IMO.

"Hey, we're releasing in a few months, but our own software, which should be the furthest along, and have access to all the newest tools, and really showcase the machine, won't be shown. But you can see some other guys' stuff - we're just not bothered"
 
Hm, I don't think so... the Xbox 360 will be released at the end of 2005 in Europe and then MS don't wants to show their own games playable at the biggest european gaming fair? Would be very stupid.
 
They will show the 1st/2nd party games... but just in presentations, not playable for everyone.
I heard the same stuff as blimblim.
 
That's a weak showing. I should almost call shenanigans at the thread title. Nothing against Final Fantasy XI, but that game alone, and the lack of playable first or second party titles this late in the year does not a playable Xbox 360 showing make. I hope Final Fantasy has a good showing at least.
 
I would rather that they work on making the games playable in November vs. putting in effort to make a playable demo for a game show. A presentation is just as and sometimes even more effective.
 
I'll be going as well. Figured it'd be a soft return to work after holiday and reserved my trip right before taking off for the summer. East Germany, here I come.
