...ok it does not - but Microsoft Japan is busy with early damage control because of reports of defective units

btw. I dont believe in problems exceeding usual margins, but the bad news found their way to japan anyway...I really pity those guys working at MS Japan

my wife's Dell Inspiron 9100's DVD-burner scratches DualDiscs.. fucking dualdiscs.
 
It's hilarious how bad the xbox 360 release has been. I'm glad I'm not one of the fools who actually rushed to buy one (and also glad that I probably won't pick one up either).

However, if I recieved one for free, I'd probably see what games are available for rent.


I remember when the only problem you'd have with a console game is maybe blowing dust out of it or putting another cartridge in the box to hold the currently-playing one down.
 
This launch has been no worse than any previous one. The only real difference is that a much larger percentage of those buying in have access to the internet so the 'bad news' travels much faster.

I have had my 360 since launch and was one of the "fools" who rushed to buy one. I have had no issues wih my Xbox overheating, scratching discs, melting, or murdering any of my family members.

From what I have heard, people who have had problems had Microsoft ship them a box for repair. Most issues were taken care of in about a week. I am not sure where you are getting your information as to how "bad" this launch has been. Unless you consider almost every news agency covering the amount of demand there is for this a bad thing.

Nice attempt at a troll though.

My point is that the launch for the earlier consoles (even the earlier xbox) were a lot cleaner.

My point doesn't just apply to earlier consoles though, as all technology is getting more complex, the amount of problems and bad releases is just skyrocketing with nobody rushing to get quality control covered.

I'm waiting for my third Geforce 6600GT because the first two died (one in the first day, the other died 3 months after I recieved it).

Before I got my current motherboard, I had to deal with two biostar M7NCD's that were competely dead on arrival - they didn't even post.

There are countless other examples.
 
The 360 scratched my PDZ copy up REALLY bad. I wasn't moving the system or anything when it happened. The screen froze up and when I took the disc out to check it, it had been scracthed pretty badly.
 
MS Japan now put up a guide on their website how to handle the x360 correctly

(Building a console you can put up vertically and horizontally you obviously have to consider people changing the orientation while playing. Strange people probably, but still a good QA department should check stuff like this)

Even though the amount of damage done to the disc when changing the X360's position during gameplay is insane, anyone stupid enough to do it deserves it (common sense, anyone?).

I doubt the actual number who have severe scratching outside of that scenario is high at all (lucky you Jeff!).

Still not good for the reputation when a primary complaint of the original Xbox in Japan was defects/disk scratching.
 
It reminds me of the PSP ejecting UMDs if you twist the system in a certain way. The only people that are going to do it are idiots.
 
Maybe Microsoft deliberately shipped defective units to shops that break street dates as some form of 'punishment'

...because the Xbox360 isn't out here for another 10 hours or so.

edit: or 6 hours if you're a Shibuya resident! ;)

Didn't the original Xbox have this same problem in Jp? If so, it's a damn shame that MS is getting is getting complaints for the same issue two launches in a row.
 
didnt the Dreamcast release have lots of problemos? I know I had an el unreadable Sonic Adventure Disc and others had problems with Blue Stinger.
