I'm surprised so many people hate the look of it.....you guys are messed. It's definitely one of the best looking consoles to date.

I'm sure we'd be reading alot of the same compaints from the same people no matter what it looked like. It's not so much a design issue, it's the manufacturer.

I still don't know how the hell MS managed to sell a DVD remote with no power on/off button for the first Xbox :lol

I like my Xbox and I think this thing is pretty damn ugly. Still, I reserve my final judgement till the day I get to see it in person (Euro party I guess)

You got that right my friend. Duke for life.

I think the Xbox360 looks freaking sweet. And I was right when I posted a couple of weeks ago that I guessed the concaved shape was so that it could fit on top of the Xbox.

holding the duke controller is like holding a pumpkin or a loaf of bread. Its THAT Huge

I happen to think that the Xbox is ugly as sin too, but I'm having trouble seeing what everyone's problem with the 360 design is.

I certainly hope that there's a confirm prompt that comes up with pressing that button. It would suck to have the remote simply shut your system down if someone steps on it, or presses the button accidentally.

The duke is like sex in your hands once you've spend some time with it, specially for FPS games and racers. I have girly hands and I think it's really ergonomic, by contrast I find myself fighting with the GC controller everytime I want to play with it.

In my world big stands for comfortable, unless we are talking about... aw crap =P

Close up of the controller is now on Engadget:

Looks great :). The bottom looks like it could be a headphone jack for the XBL mic. If you look closely at the "Xbox 360 button", you can see the letters 1, 2, 3, 4. I wonder what that means?

*insert huge rolleyes*

As someone already said,it's easily the best FPS controller ever and it was fine with all other games as well.

I'm lovin that X logo in the center of the controller :)

Interesting connection ports there on the bottom of the controller there. New interface for the Live headsets? Rechargeable cord plug? Both? And, yeah, it's very sweet-looking!

What's with the four raised points (arrows) surrounding the (guide) button? Ah OK, they're numbers. Yeah, could be controller 'port' designations with the each of the four arms of the LED 'X' possibly lighting up individually and pointing in the direction of the currently-assigned 'port' or player designation. Hmmm... Or not. :lol

Obviously leaks are coming from elsewhere now - this isn't a cameraphone shot, that's for sure.

You plug in at the bottom to charge? Or is that for the headset?

NoTHInG WiLL EveR cOmE CLosE to ThE N64 ContROLLer -
:lol :lol :lol

I also think it looks great. I think it's quite pretty indeed (can I call a controller pretty? can I?)

It's not a logo, it's a button. Its purpose is not yet known.

Edit: My guess is they're wireless controllers and you switch it to whatever slot you want to use the controller on, 1 through 4.

Somebody reported that when they pressed a button on the controller, it brought up some sort of interface for text messaging. I'm guessing this big X button brings up the console's menus in the middle of gameplay, similar to pressing "HOME" on a PSP, only with more features than "quit game." It'll probably give you access to all the Live functionality like sending messages and looking at your friends list.

Yeah, that's it I think. It probabyl won't take you out of the game, though, like PSP - I'm imagining a "taskbar" that pops out at the side of the screen where you can access everything without leaving the game - like changing your custom music for the game from that music player etc. That's probably why some resources are always reserved in the system, to allow for instant access to that.

Why the numbers near the logo?
1 2
3 4

????

Couldn't it be a way to indicate which controller you're using (1-4)? Maybe the 'orb' lights up or something?

EDIT: OK, Odnetnin already said it. :P

I dunno, if they're wireless controllers it would make a lot more sense to be the button to set them on whatever slot you want to use them.

The 1-4 probbaly is ued to let you know which contorller you are using by having one of the X-arrows "point" to a number.

I kind of wonder... could that remote be a hoax, started a few days ago, and released now to take advantage of the other leaks spilling out? Something about it doesn't sit right, and either the Windows logo or the MS Butterfly is on the button labeled "START"... maybe they just thought to unify the terminology, but the logo is really bothering me.

Then again, that top silver emblem does match the newly leaked controller image well.

Either way, I hate how the MS/Media Center remotes lack buttons right on the remote for changing the Audio and Subtitles. You have to go menu trawling, and it's a pain.

That's pretty much exactly what they showed at GDC, so I'd wager that's exactly what we'll get.

The X360 looks decent....inoffensive...

Really starting to like the controller though....a step up from the S controller, which I like....

A lot of the negative reactions to the look of the console were written prior to opening the thread and seeing it. Oh about time. *copy, paste* :lol

who said he didn't point it at those screens? :p

Oh and the console is UGLY. This cannot be denied. It SCREAMS genertic POS. If MS wants that thing to become the central hub of home entertainment, it will need to do some serious redesigns ASAP.

Come on MS, rubberize those damn analog sticks. It's almost perfect with the indentation, just give me non slip rubber coating1!!!!

We could say the same thing about the positive reactions as well then. *copy, paste* :lol

I have a funny question.

Say you live in an apartment and you've got an X360. The person in the next apartment does as well, and you've got your two TVs set up on the wall that joins the two apartments. Is there a chance your controller could control their system and visa versa?

Doubt it. If you're gonna LAN in the same room, they would have figured out a way to solve that.

Controller looks nice. The Xbox itself however is fucking disgusting, which isn't much of a suprise. The only console that actually has decent asthetic value is the PS2/PSTwo anyways.
