Xbox 360 vs. Xbox 1: Weight and Size

I didn’t see any discussion about article from July Issue of EGM, so Xbox vs. Xbox 360 comparison (I trust them):

Xbox Size: 3.5 X 10.25 X 12.75 inches; Xbox 360 Size: 3.27 X 10.16 X 12.17 inches
Xbox Weight: 8 lbs. 11 oz (3.9 kg); Xbox 360 Weight: 7 lbs. 11 oz (3.65 kg)

P.S. IGN suck with their funny numbers.

That article also said there was no backwards compatability. I dont see any reason to trust an out of date article over what IGN has.

The concave shape will make it seem smaller than it really is...Xbox1 OTOH seemed bigger than it was cause of the convext top. PS3 is going to have the same problem as Xbox1, its going to seem bigger than it really is.

It's a good thing that both consoles can be put in the vertical position it's all good.

These SIZE comparison pics are from Kotaku

Revolution is my favorite of the three.

Man, the new Nintendo is so small compared to the Xbx360 and PS3. I hope that those two don't gang up on teh little Nintendo and beat it up.

Nintendo outght to put wheels on it so that it can get away in a hurry...

Yea... get away from all the japenese who are gonna eat this thing for breakfast.
Xbox proved that consoles that size arent on the top of japenese gamers lists... they don't have a lot of room for all these big machines in their homes... and the Ps3 is huge, and 360 isnt much smaller than xbox (not to mention its Microsoft).

It may get its ass kicked in America, but don't you see this thing selling like hotcakes in japan? I mean, get a white one and put it next to your 60gb ipod and they're almost the same size, haha

It's called putting your system in teh vertical position.

Really. I was expecting a great design from Sony, a bad looking console from MS and something utterly bollocks from Nintendo.

I got:

An ugly and humongous looking PS3.

A bland Xbox 360.

A super-sexy Revolution.

WTF?

How long before someone mods an Xbox360 to have a Revolution embeded in its discdrive? You figure it would be possible to have the Rev DVD drive play 360 games and just passthrough the data to the Xbox360 hardware?

I def. don't have vertical space in my entertainment unit that could support that. And a PS3 is even larger, no? Vertical is great when its on the top of your unit, but if it is below your TV? uhh... that is larger than the average shelf spacing. Its like from his midsection to his next for size comparison. Chesty.

IGN seems to have completely fabricated their numbers. Not suprising. Anyway, here's hoping the PS3 ain't a fat pig, b/c it still looked large in KK's hands. The design of the 360 is a more slimming design than the ugly pos they released for the original. So it really shouldn't be that bad. It's merely a matter of inches in any case. PEACE.

The PS3 is far from huge. As Marconelly and I have pointed out in other threads, seeing the PS3 case in person is a very different experience from seeing images and photographs. The system appears to be very close in size to the old PS2 and smaller than the X360. The convex design may lead some to speculate it is larger than X360 but comparing them side by side in person will reveal that PS3 is the smaller console.

KK is a small man. The comparison pics using the power plug on the back of the PS3 and 360 put the PS3 at smaller than the 360. Some slightly smaller, some about PS2-size. But is there any actual measurements on that thing? That slot drive seems proportional to the front of the system as the PS2's drive is. But I don't think I want to hazard a guess since it's so easy to throw off the dimensions by a large amount. PEACE.

Judging from the pixs above it looks like to me :

XBox 360 --- a computer case
PS 3 --- a xerox copier
Rev. --- Dishnetwork, Directv reciever

It never occur to me before until just now. Kinda kewl ! (in a small perspective way)

Like the conceptual 'boomerang' controller, I don't think what we've seen so far is the PS3's final design. Maybe they'll shave off a few inches and modify some things in the final design. At least I hope so. Because as it stands right now, it looks like a fat George Foreman grill.

I definitely dig the PS3 design, but I don't think there's any competiton against the Revolution console. Rev is just tiny and will blend in, I think, well.

That explains why it's concave, they are trying to make it appear smaller. As long as the play good games, who cares how big it is?.....

I think the PS3 looks ..... ok, but I like the design of the XB1 and PS2 way better than either of the new machines.

360 and PS3 are pretty much the same size, give or take a centinmeter here or there. Revolution is tiny. And only one, the 360, is likely to look exactly like that by launch.

Frankly, I like 'em all, but the Revolution is boring.

I had a talk with a friend at Sony today... the PS3 is larger than the PS2 but smaller than the original Xbox... I forgot to ask him where it falls in relation to the X360 though.

:lol That can't be right. The PS3 looks the same size as the PStwo in that pic.

It seems like a pretty solid comparison shot. If PS3 is that small I'll be suprised.

Can someone photoshop a PSTwo into that shot?

Vince: Was the original Xbox even that much bigger than the original PS2? Somehow, your comparison pic looks wrong. I can't see the 360 being that much bigger than PS3. PEACE.

Everytime I look at this pic something just seems off. I know the method they used to compare them, but it just looks...way, way wrong. I can't put my finger on it. I will investigate further!

The PStwo is absolutly tiny. For comparason, you need to look at the Ethernet ports -- the PStwo is around ~2X the port's height in thickness. The PlayStation3 is more akin to the PlayStation2 in size.

Well, if you can find it I'll remove it and apologize; but I can't find it. The power, USB and Ethernet all are aligned and the picture I posted have the ports (eg. USB, Power, Ethernet) all correctly proportioned on the consoles as per the vendor's own pictures.

I'll try if you can do me a favour and find two of the most hi-res shots imaginable for the back of PS3 and Xbox360.

(I'm 56k and lazy, so any guidance to such pics is appreciated ;) )

The Xbox shot is taken at a much closer distance than was with the pS3 shot. Stuff can get appear to be "blown up" when taken at close range.
