A sad but true scenario that will make 360's headstart sell more consoles than PS3:

1 - Xbox 360 launches
2 - Xbox 360 gets cracked by pirates
3 - PS3 launches

At least in my country (Italy), Xbox really exploded when piracy came out. And my opinion is that Microsoft is aware of this, so I'm expecting for it being pirated very early. I'm hoping to be wrong, anyway...

Number 2 is interesting. What could we expect from 360 in the mod community? I mean we all know what XBOX has done and how great it can be with the right tweaks, is 360 drool inducing in that regard? I can emulators and the such on it...but it would already some of the things that a modded XBOX can now....just interesting to know what ideas may be out there...even right now.

Why are you guys debating the headstart when we don't even know when Sony and Nintendo are going to launch? The headstart could be a lot smaller or larger than some people think right now.

Plus I think the headstart is only going to help them in North America since Japan they will probably get outsold on a weekly basis by the PS2 and Europe they never did as well as the stories that people on this board like to make it out to be. The Xbox was actually trailing the Cube in Europe for awhile before they made about 5 consecutive price cuts. Depending on the price of the Xbox 360 it could be a real slow seller in Europe especially if it has to go up against the PSP.

With an awesome array of games and the best hardware ever they're going to steal so much marketshare so quick Nintendo and Sony will be left fighting for second and they're going to cannabalize each other. MS will have Killer titlles waiting for when PS3 and Rev launch. MS is in an awesome position. They have a huge fanbase that will carry over unlike the saturn.

That is only if MS makes the same mistake twice (doubtful) and grossly overprices the XBOX 360 in Europe like they did with the XBOX.
