Sound shapes the way we experience games, adding dimension and depth to every action, interaction, and atmosphere. From the epic swell of a battle soundtrack to the quiet tension of a stealth mission, audio plays a crucial role in creating unforgettable gaming moments. That’s why we’ve refreshed the Xbox Wireless Headset, introducing key enhancements to elevate your audio experience to new heights.

Now featuring Dolby Atmos at no additional cost, this updated headset delivers immersive, spatial audio that brings games to life in vivid detail. We’ve also improved battery life, offering up to 20 hours of playtime*, upgraded the microphone with enhanced auto-mute and voice isolation for crystal-clear communication, and now feature Bluetooth 5.3. Combined with its sleek, all-black design, the new Xbox Wireless Headset remains an essential addition to any gaming setup.

Why don’t they become a third party accessory company ? They have more of this shit than any third party company in the world.

Almost every week they have either a new color controller or new accessory

What a waste . Another headset that is overpriced and sound like shit compared to actual nice headsets.

I've never tried Atmos but that sounds like a nice upgrade. If it's $50 like the last one, I might consider upgrading. Hopefully it has the same volume controls. Turning knobs on the headphones is so much easier than fumbling around for tiny buttons you can't even see.

It looks exactly like the last one, which for me had rampant audio dropouts all the time.

Edit - It's $109.99...

In terms of value the bundled headset with the 360 is the best value and from my understanding unified the gaming community and Sony with the ps3 didn’t have.

The improved battery life is a step forward but it’s still disturbing at one point head sets were free.

I had the one sided eversion with my launch Xbox 360 and it was design perfection.

The mute switch you could easily toggle with your thumb during gameplay stopped the droning buzz and mouth breather issues we have now. I used to toggle it to speak and toggle off when I finished my sentence, that's how all my buddies used it too.

The original headset was criticized very heavily for sound quality by reviewers I trust (too much bass that overpowers the rest of the frequencies).

So it's weird that they didn't even bother to adjust that sound profile.

Meh get a proper headset or better just buy a proper headphones and plug it into controller. Its working fine with even high impendance headphones. I know it has a wire, but your ears will appreciate it

I like the headset this is refreshing. It's been great for me. Thinking of upgrading for sure.

The initial profiles were terrible at launch. It's in much better shape post-review period.

Yeah no issues with the one that i've had for a while, although it doesn't get much use to be honest.

Why can't they do both? And how did you already listen to this headset? BTW, Eurogamer praised the previous one when it debuted.

Xbox Wireless Headset review: our new top recommendation for Xbox

This level of value is almost unfair.

Arrogant xbox. Remove optical port, close USB ports and make all headsets proprietary or force you to use the 3.5 jack on a controller.

You are not wrong. When I go out and look at console headsets, I typically see wireless headsets that work with both PC and PS and then another one just like it that only works with Xbox.

Like SteelSeries Artis 7

Some of the steelseries work on both but the ones with the proprietary chip built in(9x?) don't. The 7x may work with PC and PS5 but I don't remember. Usually the USB dongle included allows it to work on PS5 and PC

I think mine is the 7x which does work on ps5.
The Sennheiser EpOs Drop PC38X is a much better headset.
That sounds made up

Mouth breathers are on PlayStation now because some retard at Sony hq thought defaulting the dualsense mic to always on was a good idea.

I don’t know how but I already have 5 different Xbox series controllers, each of them works perfectly fine, I am just sucker for nice looking designs. Even worse, I am usually using the one that came with the console :)

The Sennheiser is similar to the HD5 and was one of the first regular headphones plus mic darlings. Always been a good gaming headphone until the planar started to shift the compatibility. Plus they are open back which imo is where you start with a gaming headset but to each their own...

Are you serious - that's the default? Hahaha I don't play online much anymore and I have voice chat disabled at a system level on Xbox and PlayStation... that's crazy man.

The original was decent to use on PC/Xbox, but three years for what it looks to be the same thing... come on.

Free Dolby Atmos is nice. Bought it on PC for my Logitech headset and it really made a difference in sound quality in Silent Hill 2.

Yea man. Turn on your PS5 and the controller mic is on. I have to press mute every time. I may as well mute at system level too come to think of it.

It’s almost like accessories are easy money to make for a corporation that is in the business of… Making money.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

This is true.
The only time it auto-mutes is when I power on the bluetooth headset connected to it. Very odd design choice.

On topic: I'm already swimming in headsets so don't really need one but I wish there was an affordable model that worked with both PS/Xbox consoles and PC as well.

What are the best headsets to get for PS5? I have a steel series but even that kinda felt cheap and flimsy. I also don't like the controls.

What a Pandoras box this is

First question is what is your budget?

Open to wire or does it have to be wireless?

Open back (which are superior) or do you need closed backs to prevent sound from leaking?

Thanks OP. Got the previous version but it is due for upgrade, and was really happy with it for gaming, for music I usually go with B&O audio equipment. Just ordered the new one :messenger_sunglasses:

Not it wasn't and it was far better than the PS5 headset which was simply too quiet
Not for me. I've had my Pulse for years with no issues and the sound has been great.

Bought the Xbox headset a year or two ago and immediately noticed terrible bass and mids.

Budget doesn't really matter. I'd say probably under $300. Can't imagine spending more than that as I already have a surround sound set up.

I use headphones mainly for multiplayer. So I mainly need great mic quality and good balance controls.

I would go with closed back too. What makes you like open backed ones so much?

I couldn't disagree more and I have both. The PS headhead is just too quiet. Also, the Xbox pad is much simpler to use and you can update it wirelessly unlike the PS headset

Closed back the SteelSeries Arctic Novas are very good

Open backs give a wider soundstage for me personally and no closed back headphones can reproduce that

The wider soundstage just makes things sound more 3 dimensional to me

That's fine if you disagree. I don't know why you replied further and with a photo as if I needed (or asked) for proof of anything. I have both headsets and prefer the PS one.

All there is to it.
