Those don't look as good as the ones we were seeing a month ago. What gives? Crappy captures like everything we've seen by Microsoft itself? I mean Blim just completely roasts MS at advertising their own machine.
 
This game reminds me of looking at a chick walking down the street that has a nice applebottom that makes you go "good lord!!!" (Madden 360 screens) but makes you want to run in fear when you get close and see her face (Madden 360 in motion).
 
The old dude in the first pic looks terrible. Flat lighting on the shirt and what's up with those hands? The textures on the ground are not exactly next gen material either and the shadowing is poor to say the least.

Well... he's old and he's a dude. I don't see how my lack of knowledge about the NFL somehow invalidates my opinion. Or is your claim that this person in fact has absurdly deformed hands in real life? Do real football fields have blurry textures, flat lighting and do they defy the laws of nature in such a way that shadows are nearly non-existant?

Enlighten me.

I can't believe how excited I am about Madden. I was totally set to dismiss EA always chosing Sega Sports, but wow, maybe it's because the Bears have a 500 record and I'm hyped about this season.
 
Yeah I know. I've been checkin up on him. I actually picked him up cause I really like him a lot, and if he got more touches their passing game would be much, much better. Just saying that they could've probably beat Pittsburgh by handin it to Rudi more.
 
It looks ok.......of course my co worker walks by and his jaw hits the floor he like OMG!!! IT LOOKS SO REAL....so I guess It will sell like hotcakes to the casuals.
 
EA fucked up by showing us 'targets'. I don't think this game will ever look the way I want it to.

Honestly tho, I don't care how it looks as long as it's not do-able on what we have now. My main concern is how the game will play. Specifically animation (which from the media I've seen looks pretty shitty), collision detection and physics.

if they don't fix that flat ass texture for the field, i will be pissed. there's simply no fucking excuse for that shit. put some parallax/normal/bump mapping on that shit EA. i can't believe they can look anyone in the eye with a straight face having that field like that.

i know that sounds extreme, but it really bugs the hell out of me that the field looks like a green basketball court. i don't need individual blades of grass or something, i'm just talking about using some parallax mapping to give the texture the appearance of depth. it's basically free on the x360 anyhow.

i'll give them the stadiums though.. those are amazing.

That looks good, but kind of like it's just a high res texture... nothing there to really give it the appearance of depth that I would like. Still, that would certainly be passable in my book. At least it's better than that shit in the pics at the top, which is simply unnacceptable considering it looks exactly like the Xbox 1 field textures. They didn't even have the decency to turn on some AF to lessen the blurr.

:lol I can see it now, PS3 fans: "it took the power of PS3 to do the field turf"

Oh man, holiday next year at GAF... comparison shots of every game everywhere. Arguments taking threads 20 pages long. It'll be like GT4 v. PGR2 times a million.

P.S. I really like the lighting in that pic you posted... seems a lot better in that shot than the lighting does in most other pics of the game. Which gives some hope. Almost makes me think your pic is from a lot later build, which would mean good news for us. I hope the final game has that lighting and at least this good of a field texture. I still hope they slap some parallax mapping on the field though.

That looks like the rendering engine they are using for nbalive. Please make it so.
 
the game is looking good for starters, but I fear that drastic improvements wont be made to the animations like with Madden this generation.
 
It won't be long before devlopers start utilizing shadows on hands/football/helmets.... :D

The only shadows we see now, is the ones on the floor.....
