Xbox Game Pass Core to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate conversion rate has been decreased

When you upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, we'll convert any prepaid time you have on Xbox Game Pass or EA Play subscriptions and apply it toward Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at the current conversion ratio, up to a maximum of 36 months.

The conversion rate will now be 2:1. This means that 3 months of Game Pass Core will now give you 45 days of Ultimate, and 12 months of Core will give you 6 months of Ultimate.

  • Xbox Game Pass Core conversion ratio: Any remaining time will convert to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time at a ratio of 2:1 and be rounded up to the next full day. For example, 90 days remaining of Xbox Game Pass Core will convert to 45 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time.
  • PC Game Pass conversion ratio: Any remaining time will convert to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time at a ratio of 3:2 and be rounded up to the next full day. For example, 90 days remaining of PC Game Pass will convert to 60 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time.
  • Xbox Game Pass Standard and Game Pass for Console conversion ratio: Any remaining time will convert to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time at a ratio of 4:3 and be rounded up to the next full day. For example, 90 days remaining of Xbox Game Pass Standard or Game Pass for Console will convert to 68 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time.
  • EA Play conversion ratio: Any remaining time will convert to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time at a ratio of 3:1 and be rounded up to the next full day. For example, 90 days remaining of EA Play will convert to 30 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time.

This is nothing new, they changed it like half a year ago.

No, they changed it to 3:2 back in July.

"It used to be a 1:1 conversion rate - that is, if you loaded up 3 years of Gold, you got 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate for being a 'new' subscriber. However, the ratio has now changed to 3:2 - for every 3 years of Game Pass Core, you can convert to 2 years of Ultimate. "

That bit is poorly worded. They changed that to 3:2 back in mid 2023.

This is the new ratio, previously it was:

(Correct me if wrong)

3:1 for active Game Pass Ultimate subscribers
[12 months Core ➡ 4 months Ultimate]
3:2 for lapsed/new Game Pass Ultimate subscribers
[12 months Core ➡ 8 months Ultimate]

Now it's:

Game Pass Ultimate subscribers
12 months of Game= Pass Core
114 days of Ultimate (3+ months)

Game pass standard subscribers
12 months of Game Pass Core =
150 days of Standard (5 months)

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
They've only changed the core conversion from 3:2 to 2:1 and EA Play conversion has always been shit, who does that anyway.

PC GP is still the same 3 : 2

1 month of PC Game Pass
20 days of Ultimate
3 months of PC Game Pass
60 days of Ultimate (1+ month)
