I paid for the Starfield upgrade to play a bit early. I think that included the expansion.

Smart. While I don't think I'd ever use the option, it just encourages those who do to purchase the base game should the decide to cancel their membership.

Yes this is basically the same as the Starfield premium upgrade for Game Pass. Many of us theorized they would do the same here.

Same as Forza did it, I see it as a great way to support the Devs whilst I get extra content.
I upgraded Forza and will do the same here. Can't wait for the GamePass CoD skins too

Judging by the trailer for the expansion this fall. it looks like it was worth it. i paid $30 for the expansion upgrade.
The Premium upgrade can be had for $17 on eneba last i checked.
Yep this is the tactic that has gotten me to still spend money on ms game despite gamepass. Buying the expansion pass to play the game early along with all the dlc for the complete experience for games. In my twisted mind I feel like I'm getting the ultimate edition of ms games for like $50 day 1. 30 for the expansion and buy the base game digital for like $20 when it eventual goes on sale.
Forza horizon 4 started me down this rabbit hole.

That's how ms got it's claws in me with gamepass I've been buying the ultimate upgrade for a lot of games for $30 at release. Then, when the base game gets old and goes on sale, usually for like $20, I'll buy it then so it's like getting ult edition day one for $50. I think it was forza horizon 4 that started this trend for me.

Yup. I own all the DLC for FH5 but not the base game. I’ll buy it before they ever delist it though.
For games like COD delisting is less of an issue I guess because it does not feature licenced music. So I’ll buy the vault upgrade and not buy the base game. Buy the time I done bought a few character and weapons skins on top of that I will probably have already spent 100 bucks over the course of 12 months on it.

Why wouldn't it apply to pc game pass? blops6 is on pc game pass and the vault edition upgrade is simply a separate thing you can buy in the store regardless if you have game pass or not.

Don't see why it wouldn't. Like most above I purchased just the upgrade for FH4 and FH5. They gave FH4 base game for free to those who did this when they delisted.

The two main reasons that come to mind were that it the tweet specifically mentioned xbox game pass, i didnt check the update video.
But regardless, ive always had a bad experience with xbox store’s games (crashing, frame pacing issues, uninstalling by itself) I’d rather just buy the game in full on steam

Also you use the xbox store for the rest of gamepass games but youd rather spend an extra £100 just to avoid it for this particular title? I call beards.

Did this with Starfield and regretted it, now I'm locked out of playing the Starfield DLC I paid for unless I subscribe to gamepass ultimate for £14.99 a month, something I'm not willing to do

I bought the expansion for the game because I got it included with the premium edition, which I bought before the game was released and had no idea whether I'd actually enjoy the game or not
I did finish Starfield, just can't say I'm willing to sign up for a £14.99 subscription again just to play a mediocre DLC, regardless of whether I've already paid for it or not. I've already exhausted every other game I want to play on gamepass now, so I don't get any more value out of renewing my subscription personally

Yeah, I am beginning to wonder how much worth I have left in gamepass on PC, I think I would rather buy the games on steam and then I can play them on steam deck as well. Was holding out for BlackOps but I think I would rather that on PS5, will see after this year as the price is now £9.99 :-S

Buying DLC for a game I don't own is wild to me. I couldn't do it but if people get some kind of value out of it then good for them.
Anyone that owned any DLC for Forza Horizon 3 or 4 got sent a code for the base game before getting delisted if I remember correctly. So I guess it works out in the end.

I buy premium upgrades before launch and the base game half a year or year after launch on 50%> sales.

Spend nearly half the cost of the game on DLC but never own the actual game. If you factor in the cost of gamepass it is over half.
If you are going to calculate it that way then you need to divide the cost of game pass by however many games you get with it.
