3 days ago, my connection on live took a huge dump. its extremely rare that i can play a match in halo 2 that isnt choke full of garbled/stuttering voices and assorted lag, and i'm even getting disconnects in other live games too (pgr2).
my xbox is connected to the internet directly to the cable modem when i play on live.
i ran some upload and download tests from several places online. my download is roughly 2150kbps, upload is 301. that seems quite decent enough and certainly not worse then what it usually is. the internet runs a-ok too, no noticable speed loss.
i called my isp, they said everything is fine on their end for my area, they pinged the modem and said it was working perfectly well.
i called 800-4-my-xbox, got some lady on the phone who was no help at all. she must have been reading from some sort of generic troubleshooting FAQ. "xbox live preformance can very from game to game due to a hosts speed and bandwidth... yadda yadda yadda"
so, i switched out the cable from the xbox to the modem, and it still hasnt improved anything.
anyone have any thoughts on what the issue could be? maybe the ethernet port on my fairly new xbox (purchased at the beginning of november)? finally, isnt there a way to test upload and download speeds from one of the menus on the xbox? i looked, but couldnt find it...
any thanks would really be appreciated
