Xbox Live: Ultimate Game Sale - Now Live - Great Deals!

any guesses on what the Witcher 2 will go on sale for? it's only 30 at retail these days, right?

if it's 5-10, I'll definitely buy it again.

As of right now it's $40 on Xbox so it could probably go down to $15-$20. I think $20 is realistic

Man, between this sale and the last MS Games on Demand sale, I'm looking at over 20 games. I also hit up several games from the PSN Summer sale. AND Steam Summer Sale coming up. I need to take about 3 months off of work to try to catch up.

That is not how GoD works. As someone else in this thread mentioned, it works just like that for every GoD game.

Basically you only download the full image of Disc 1 and then download (sometimes) several DLC packs through the ingame DLC menu to get the content from the other discs. Every game that comes to GoD gets a title update to support this DLC.

LA Noire was the first multi disc game to hit the service. You downloaded the first disc 6.67GB and then downloaded the rest of the cases through the ingame DLC menu.

So yeah you always need to have disc 1 on your HDD. You can't play the rest of the content without it.

Ah, that sucks. Sorry for any misinformation on my part. I haven't bought a multi disc game from GoD before. Actually, I bought Max Payne 3 which I think is a mttli disc game, but I don't recall having to download anything to play the single player. Maybe I just forgot.

Anyway, apologies if I misled anyone.

Microsoft needs to do these kind of sales more often.

They probably will, honestly.

Their last good sale I probably picked up like 4 or 5 games, like GoD games too. Seeing revenue pour in from these types of sales is likely going to cause more.

Then again, this could also just be a sort of 'end of the system blow out', but I like to think that Microsoft will continue to do this even on the Xbox One.

Controversial comment incoming: I think with the previous Xbox One policies we would see deals like this far more often after a year or two into the system's life.

With games being released day and date digitally, I think that still will happen.
If they see success with this sale (and they will) they have no reason to not do it.

Honestly, I still believe BOTH Sony and MS want a completely digital eco-system eventually. I think they will both gradually expand their offerings of digital releases with exclusive content, more sales and incentives(Hell, I posted before that I have bought over 20 games between this MS sale and the last Big one) to begin to move over all those people hung up on physical copies to start to buy digital.
I have converted this past year or so and I am buying around 75% of my games digitally on both the PS3 and X360. I preordered both the XBox One and the PS4 without preordering ANY games. I plan on getting them all Digitally.

I'd also do this if the prices were more sensible and reflected the lower cost of releasing them digitally.

Putting up games for £50 when the retail version can be bought for £35 or less is ridiculous and also not adjusting the prices to reflect the much lower price at retail is also pretty annoying.

I think it would make sense later if MS adds a feature stating that if you bought a game digitally, it can become one of those matchmaking-queue time killers.

Ok for Kinect Sports 2, and probably Table Tennis (I have sold it recently after not playing it for years, but for 3€ I can buy it again just in case I want to get back to it).
I hear good things about the Lego games but... no, I definitely don't have the time.

Really recommend buying Lego Batman 2. It's a great cool down game or something you can play in short bursts.

Buy it.

Bought Table Tennis, Divinity 2 and Lego Batman 2. Still on the fence about PD0, despite it being 160 points here... I have time to think it over anyway.

This sale is hitting me harder than the Christmas one.

I only buy the games I really want to have day one at full price. Most of the time I wait until there is a sale like this. I bought many MS point cards at discounts and it helps a lot. Totally understand though. I don't think there will be many price differences between the retail and the digital versions. I think they will just add some exclusive content or maybe bundle it with some other games to make it more palatable. My main hope is that they will react quicker on price drops. The convenience of not having to switch discs(yes I'm lazy) and less clutter is worth it to me.

So the X-Com tile lists the price as $29.95 but when going to purchase it lists out at $79.95. That is the Australian mp though. Might indicate the sale pricing I guess.

Time for me to grad the Rockstar Table Tennis game. The price is excellent and I remember liking the demo they had in stores back when the Xbox launched. Very nice. :)

That's Perfect Dark Zero, Prey, Borderlands 2 and Table Tennis... For now.

The website is unable to purchase Table Tennis for me or some strange reason. It says 'Sorry, your purchase cannot be completed at this time'. Any ideas? (I'm in Australia)

I was getting this all day trying to buy Max Payne 3 with MS points. I was trying the website and the dashboard, and getting the same type of error both ways. I finally had a friend in a different state log into my account to buy it for me. I was able to buy Prey with a debit card though, so it might just be an issue with MS Points.

I contacted support through both live chat on xbox.com and @xboxsupport on twitter, and neither could help me. www.xbox.com/status did have an issue with purchasing third party content, though now it only lists an issue affecting video and music on Windows 8. This was all on their US site, not sure what shows on the Aus site.

Microsoft should learn from this. Right now I have bought:

borderlands 2
Assassins Creed 3
Lego LOTR
Lego Batman

I will also consider anything that is 10 or 15 dollars ( Witcher pls, forza horizon) if they did digital sales like this with any regularity I would be behind a more digital future. But they won't.

Guys I can't see the Day 2 stuff from work, can anyone show me what they have on now? I mean the major titles?

UK prices?

Lego Lord of the Rings: £11.99
Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes: £8.99 1040 points
Hasbro Family Game Night 3: £8.99 1040 points
Monopoly Streets: £8.99 1040 points
Kinect Sports 2: £8.99 1040 points
Rockstar Table Tennis: £2.69 320 points

I presume Lego LOTR is 1200 points but it's not letting me check on xbox.com

The Eurogamer review of Lego Batman 2 sold me even though I wasn't really interested in it at all. But an open world Lego superhero game for $10? Bought.

Just to clarify for those interested in The Witcher 2 from Games on Demand - you only need 7.8gb free to install the game. The retail game was spread over two discs, however I own the game on Games on Demand and I can confirm that there's no 'extra DLC' packs or anything of the sort to make up for the missing disc 2.

It would seem that CDProject reworked the game somehow for the download version to fit it all in 7.8gb. I can't say if there's any more compression or anything vs. the disc version, though there is doubtless some (small) differences.

I also own Max Payne 3 from Games on Demand, and that games works differently: you download disc 1, then disc 2 is split up into three ~2gb DLC packs that you download also, giving a total game size of ~12.5gb on the hard drive.

There are instances of Games on Demand versions being smaller file sizes than retail versions, though. For example Need for Speed Hot Pursuit takes up about 6.6gb if you install your disc to the hard drive, but if you purchase the Games on Demand version it's more like 4.2gb.

So just how much space will I need for Witcher 2?

Seems it only needs 7.8gb. Amazing that they managed to compress it down to below 8gb.

Thanks for info. Really appreciated. Again, apologies if my earlier posts misled anyone.

I'd suggest to cue it up while you're at work. Also, he might be in different timezones so the deal may still be up.

Nothing for me today. I want to know how much Bioshock Infinite is going for.

Thanks for the tip,. Im in Amsterdam,. hope its still up.
