Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

May be nothing, but Mike Ybarra is going to Gamescom. Not sure if he always goes...but last time we saw him on stage

No, I understand that. But as the guy above said, he's in charge of BC. Also, don't think he's typically on stage. So him going down, to be backstage seems odd... :shrug:

Feel like we'll get an announcement of more games rolling out and maybe a firm date of when the public gets access.
 
I really hope they are working on Origianl Xbox support as well, and we hear about it at Gamescom. I can't imagine it is anywhere near as difficult to pull off as 360 BC, and having access to the entire Xbox catalog both physically and digital would be amazing.

I would imagine that if they could make certain Xbox game run on the 360, and are able to make most, if not all 360 games run on XB1, it stands to reason that the Xbox games with BC should run on XB1.
What is that, the transitive property?

Mike was (pretty much) the second in charge I think of Microsoft Studios when Phil was head of it and he worked on a lot of games including Gears, Sunset Overdrive and Ryse.

Since then he has moved on to be part of the platform team so I think given we have BC in the pipeline, plus new dashboard coming it would make sense that he's there, there were a few games on his Linkedin that he worked (or is on working?) on that didn't seem like they'd been announced yet so he could have been involved with something new they might have for Gamescom.

I would expect/hope the next set of titles we are going to be playing would be announced at the show though

I had put in a request to MS PR for an interview with Mike or someone on the BC team to discuss the technical issues and (surprisingly) was flat out denied because they were "too busy."

May be nothing, but it does makes me think that some sort of announcement is likely at Gamescom. MS PR doesn't usually turn down things like that.

Phil says that you should be able play 360 games from multiple regions on your Xbox One. He says he make sure with the engineering team but he thinks it is possible.

Based on how the 360 handles region coding, this wouldn't be a technical issue, but rather a licensing one.

Excellent news. I hope everyone bugs Sega, Capcom, and Treasure for their support of BC, too. It's too profitable to pass up when all you need is to get your currently available X360 digital titles listed in an X360 section of the digital store on X1 with no work on your end. More BC, less cashgrab 'remasters'.

@majornelson FYI: Both of those titles will be available to play for Preview members later today
 
Strange it's only two titles, making them available now makes me think there won't be any new announcements at gamescom.
 
Damn excited for Shadow Complex. GoW 1 is weird bc of the ultimate collection.
Edit: Oh wait, all Gears titles come with the ultimate edition of 1

That's what I thought, but announcing these two titles roughly 24 hours before the conference just seems really weird, why not wait until then, when BC will be brought up anyways?

Edit: Is Shadow Complex banned in Germany? I know gears is, maybe that's why they are announcing it now if they can't show it at Gamescom?

But I don´t really see a high demand for this.

But it would of course be great fan service and would bring them many positiv threads here in GAFworld :D
