Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

God damn people love to whinge.
I'm quite happy with the XB1's BC so far.
And if some games don't arrive, i still have my 360
if you are going to whinge about not being able to play old games.
Keep your consoles.

Tekken Tag 2 does not work anymore

No store download link
game won't start

The game would crash in the custimize character sections (need console restart)
It will probably be released soon though because the everything else was working just fine.

Hmm, still boots up fine for me. I did have the same hard lock while browsing the character customization item store, too.

Yeah, I get the emotional tantrums when something you want hasn't happened, but the bitching and hyperbole is definitely off the fucking charts for this feature. Sadly seems rather typical.

It's actually kinda of funny because skullgirls is the game I wanted most. The first game I thought about when they announced bc really, I look forward the most to fighting games becoming bc so the population can be alive again. While I want a bunch of others I can wait for sometime without damning Microsoft for not doing exactly what they want. If anything try out the games they you haven't played that is compatable, might find something you like.

So Tekken Tag 2, Skull Girls, and Soul CALIBUR are our first fighters on the service, and noone's gone in depth talking about the performance? Why not? Too busy complaining about what's NOT there?

I have TT2 on disk... somewhere, but had the other two easily awaiting and ready to DL.

ARGH, I FORGET TO REDEEM ROBO FORTUNE WHEN SHE WAS FREE!?!? How'd I miss her? DOH! *ahem* I'm glad I kept up with everything else from the IndieGoGo, and this is the first time I really got to sit down with Beowulf...

Other than that, everything SG seems to work great to me. Ckoud Save updated without a hitch. Was able to parry with Big Band with no issues, played a bunch of Local VS, downloaded all the DLC (EXCEPT ROBO-KITTY, ARGH), no issues.

Soul Calibur also worked fine, played a bunch more Local VS, fell into doing classic Cervantes combos in all manner of stages, no issues reflecting, or doing anything that required timing, though the Analog sticks seemed EXTRA sensitive compared to playing on dreamcast, which had things like me dashing out of Cervantes qcb Charge just because the stick returned to Neutral.

It's pretty great to have this added to my modern library without having to re-buy them again (such as is the case with SGs and PS4). SG feels pretty decent with the XB1's controller too, even though I'm used to playing it with a stick.

I would also like to hear why people think Microsoft is "ignoring" the games people want. What would they have to gain from it? If they announced RDR this forum would flip out, there is no positive in holding onto it. The problem is either in the licensing or the emulator.

Also, I bet many publishers are holding back games until they have a REASON to release them. Why release RDR now, if they have a next Gen follow-up in a year and a half away, and can use it's availability as a preorder / hype release?

Considering a majority of us aren't paying anything to get to play these games again, it's not too bad. I wonder if the BC adaption time would be faster if we had to pay 1~5 dollars to "port" our games to the new console, similar to the Wii U?

Curious to see how Counter Strike Go runs on BC -- if anyone plays a few matches, please give us impressions :)

Also want to know how Tekken Tag Tournament 2 runs on XB1. So hyped about it!! Unfortunately I don't have my console at my place to test it.

We only found out this was happening last night, so we haven't had a chance to test it extensively yet.

Did Big Band's Strike Up the Band super have any slowdown? That's generally the most intensive thing in the game.

We've heard the load times are better on XB1, too, and now on-par with or slightly better than the PS3 version. So that's good.

As far as I'm concerned I'm delighted that Soulcalibur made the list, it was one of my favorite games on the console despite its limitations. I like it better than SC2 and SC4 actually, now all I need is SC5 and VF5.
And since the gameplay performance feels perfect with SC, I have good hopes for other fighting games. Once enough of them are available I may get a new arcade stick for the bone (I got a cronus max for that purpose but it's not too convenient)

Interesting insight. I'll try out the super and see... Nope, no slowdown that I see. Doing it against a fellow BB in training. Haven't notice any slowdown, not even when fighting boss Marie with Beowulf and Elza. Went like 20+ back-to-back VS matches earlier, 3 on 3s, one of those being the Band, didn't seem to have much of a hitch. Last I played was back when there where save glitches between update packs locking colors I should have had... that seems to be fixed up here, which I'm happy for.

Quick question: Robo Furtune was released same time as Beo? I normally did a good job remembering those things, but guess I didn't see her then. Doh!

Robo-Fortune launched like... 3 months after Beowulf, I think? It's all a big, Indivisible blur.

She launched simultaneously when the PS4 version was released. Think April was Beowulf, and Robo-Fortune was early July.

Ahhh, ok. I remember mention about them releasing around the same patch time (I thought?) and that being like.. the final patch, so I guess I got too comfortable with thinking I had everything checked off. Feels good to play the game again, especially after enjoying a certain theme in Amplitude recently...

I just had a quick run around in the Witcher, the initial impressions of that are that it runs really well, it certainly felt responsive. That's the only game released yesterday running on a January build of the emulator 1.0.1601.42018

Presuming that the bigger the number the newer the build, it's also running the latest version, ahead of Reach and Gears

Can't believe people are actually defending this garbage list two months in and it's still a complete joke... I guess if your really into arcade games it's been good. but fuck me the retail games are slacking Witcher 2? Like seriously it's the only retail game

Deus Ex, Fable 3, Halo Reach, Kane and Lynch 2, Motocross Madness, Operation Flashpoint, Assassin's Creed 2, BK: Nuts & Bolts, Bellator, Borderlands, Call of Juarez Gunslinger, Condemned, Dirt 3, Dirt Showdown, Dungeon Siege 3, Gears of War 1/2/3/Judgment, Just Cause 2, Kameo, LEGO PotC, LEGO Star Wars TCS, Mass Effect, Mirror's Edge...

Yeah, what a shit assortment of retail games.

Yeah, we were thinking that's how we would do it at the start of the campaign.

But when we went all out on her instead of making her just a metallic Fukua-like remix, that delayed her and we decided to make it coincide with the PS4 release so there'd be a surge in play when that hit.

Glad you're enjoying it all over again, though!

Couple hundred bucks worth of BC on PS4 PSN (if they were available...and two generations old).

They have been updating older titles too recently so they are continuing to patch them and increase perform/bring them to the latest build it seems.

I also think the count of titles is lower since they have been getting panned recently by press about performance in certain games. They likely want to make sure everything is as close to its 360 counterpart or better before launching it now.

To check 360 cloud saves on the Xbox One:

1) Boot any 360 BC game.
2) Load the 360 guide.
3) Chose Manage Storage.
4) Pick Saved Games.

Anything with a generic cloud icon is on the cloud server, but not synced to your console. Anything with a color icon is synced to your console.

To move games to the cloud from a 360 memory card or USB stick, you must boot up your physical 360, go to storage and then copy (or move for save locked games) the saves from your memory stick to the cloud. Once they finish syncing, you're done.

As someone else noted, any game that saves to your profile syncs with the cloud when your profile syncs.

.

Thanks. Will give this a shot.

I own skullgirls but own none of the dlc because I forgot all about it at the time, still it will be nice to try and beat the game again since I suck at fighters but love how skullgirls looks and plays.

good to hear that the witcher 2 runs alright, i'm looking forward to playing it on my one as i've never got around to playing it until now.

note that some games don't work with the cloud. For instance, Super Meat Boy is broken in that you can move the save to the cloud but the game can't (and never could) read from it or save to it. This means there is currently no way to move over your progress to the Xbox One. which SUCKS

W2 looks much better than expected, even after playing W3 on X1. It's probably one of the best looking 360 games out there.

Super Meat Boy works with cloud saves since the last Xbox 360 system update. :)

The launch of witcher 2 (for free!) made me take my first look at the BC list in a few months...and now I have Portal, Lego Star Wars, pacman championship edition, and witcher 2 all on my XB1. Love it.

Pretty cool right? Sucks for all my PS4 friends that have to lug out the PS3 every time they want to play something.

Anyone else having issues downloading Sam & Max Save The World, It's not appearing in my available to download list and when I search for it all I get is the Bundle Only option.

I've checked via the xbox website and it says I own it.

Do you own all the episodes or did it only get sold as a full season?

Do you definitely own the full game, I don't think full games/trials show up differently in the history

Defiantly own all episodes, I think that's the only way it was sold.

For example when I go to the below whilst logged into my account, it shows 'Already Purchased' instead of the price for the full game.

I've tried click the download to xbox button but it doesn't appear on the One.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about why many of the most popular games haven't made their way to BC supported lists and why companies would be hesitant supporting BC.

I think companies are trying to think of the best way to maximize potential earnings associated with the BC program.

If they just say "ok, lets make x game available", they are just hoping customers who don't already own the game will buy the digital version(of which they get most of the money). However, the reality is many consumers will most likely buy the games for much less at a used game store or Gamestop(of which the publisher will receive nothing).

So what are their other options?

1) They could time the release of the BC game with the release of another game in the series as an incentive to purchase their new game. While this doesn't necessarily give the publisher extra money directly, it may help undecided people push them to the purchase of the new game.

2)They could take a few of their back catalog and bundle them together in a digital bundle. Call it a "volume" and have it made up of 5 or 6 games for $20-$30. It wouldn't cost them a lot of money as basically MS is doing all of the work emulating the game, yet the Publisher would get many new customers as $3-$5 a game is a no brainer for many people.

I think the argument that BC is overrated and no one really will use it was valid the last couple of Gens, but this past gen had many XBLA games which were really good and hold up to the indie or arcade games coming out today. This is also the reason, we are seeing the XBLA titles making up most of the BC list. Being digital only(for the most part) ensures the publisher is making money on the purchases.

Personally, over the next year, as new iterations of games come out and the older gen games can be marketed with them, I think we will see many of the great last gen games hit the BC list. I just think they will wait until they make sense for the publisher to release them.

I would love to see Volume packs come out. Who wouldn't pay $40-$60 for a Rockstar pack with Red Dead, Bully, L.A.Noire, GTA IV, Max Payne 3 and Midnight Club. Maybe when a new Red Dead Comes out we'll see it.

All in all, I'm actually happy with the games that came out. I have over 60 of the games on the list and have recently discovered Hydro Thunder and Deus Ex. I'm currently playing them as much as newer games like RoTR and Fallout 4.

I think it's going to take a while for the publishers to figure out how to release the games in a way that makes financial sense to them.

There are multiple reasons why they might not be available yet but I do think there is something that's holding them off. If you look at EvB's list, who has been spot on for the most part even for obscure games that the vast majority of people never knew even existed so it's safe to say that almost, if not all of them will be BC at some point.

Red Dead Redemption was on his list and one of the first he saw, first found on July 2015. I'm no software expert here but I think 6 months is more than enough time to test the game, to me these games are clearly being held back for some reason. Games like Crackdown, Alan Wake, Halo Wars are all published by MS and were found months ago, yet no appearance yet - notice something? All of them have sequels (or in AW case, QB) coming up.

1) Waiting for the xbox store to work with 360 games
2) BC collection discs
3) BC preorder pack-ins
4) EA Access to work with 360 games
5) Waiting for GWG
6) Performance isn't up to scratch

Most of the retail titles that are available right now were also GWG too, so most people probably already have them anyways (15 games were GWG - Fable 2, AC 2, Rainbow6 Vegas, Gears1, 3, Gears Judgement Halo Reach, Witcher 2, Just Cause 2, Dirt 3, DS3, Sacred 3, OF DR, Dirt Shortdown, Deus Ex). That's about half or more of the retail games, and the rest includes games that was with Rare Replay or Preorder pack-ins or has potential sequels coming up (Mirrors Edge).

Also, we know all the Bioshocks are coming.. Remember the Bioshock collection that was leaked a while ago and never happened? Part of me wonders if that'll be a BC collection and not a remaster.

Either way I do think some of these games are being held off for some reason, and with how high up RDR is on the voting I wouldn't be surprised to see a Rockstar collection with GTA 4, RDR etc in it as you said. Rare Replay seemed to have done well in the UK and US charts, a Rockstar collection could easily do over 1m I think.

Deus Ex, Fable 3, Halo Reach, Kane and Lynch 2, Motocross Madness, Operation Flashpoint, Assassin's Creed 2, BK: Nuts & Bolts, Bellator, Borderlands, Call of Juarez Gunslinger, Condemned, Dirt 3, Dirt Showdown, Dungeon Siege 3, Gears of War 1/2/3/Judgment, Just Cause 2, Kameo, LEGO PotC, LEGO Star Wars TCS, Mass Effect, Mirror's Edge...

I think people don't understand when I said whicher 2 was the only retail game. I ment for this month's list which is still very laughable considering. most of the games you and everybody mentioned coming back at me with were either announced before hand or in the initial 100 the last two months we've gotten what 5-10 and some of them are games with gold they hardly count in this do to the fact they are not apart of the list every month. Again they need to step it up I'm glad they are coming out as ready I think that should have been the case from the start.

I do not own a 360 had one for a year or so after launch been a ps3 owner from then on so yes I find the lack of games on a service that was announced what 8 months ago disappointing barely 150 games out of thousands. Ms marketed bc as a selling point. Guess what it worked a guy at work had his for sell right after e3 I bit because of bc. Excuse me if I don't think it's living up to the hype ms has built around it.

the twitchy analog stick issues that Dirt has also seem to affect the witcher, looking around with the right stick is a mix of multiple frames of delay and being over sensitive that it's really nasty to use.

Or the emulator performance is still not up to a performance spec (imagine worse than Halo: Reach). Could be lots of reasons. For sure could be marketing reasons too.
I did list that at #6 :P

Halo Reach is interesting because it shows MS didn't care how the games were released, if they did it wouldn't of been released in the first place, but then there's other MS games like Crackdown 1/2 and Alan Wake which were found being tested some time before Reach that still haven't been released yet when logically those should have came out before Reach because it was tested longer? But all three of those games have a reason to be held back - pre order bonuses.

Yeah, absolutely the case. Halo Reach was released because they needed a high profile release for the update. Other than the obvious releases coming up(Alan Wake, Crackdown), I think there will be a major push and a lot of announcements around the E3 time frame from most of the publishers. The 2016 holiday seems like the appropriate time for bundles and compilations to be released.

So some of you stateside gaffers from Rhode Island should send an email to your local represtative inquiring about Kingdoms of Amalur coming to Xbox One BC.

Anyone else not seeing The Witcher 2 as being ready to install? I had it with GWG from the 360 and couldn't see it.

Have since grabbed it again from the Xbox store as its free at the moment and I'm still not seeing it

Do your 360 and XB1 console regions differ? I had to switch my XB1s language to my 360 accounts region for it to show up.

I'd buy it and play it again, I loved that game.
Never gonna happen though :(
I'm hoping Scalebound is a similar type of game.

Probably this, I had a really awful time grabbing it because my account region differed from my console region, I couldn't add a credit card to claim it online and my console complained about the region. got there in the end.

It's really weird how few games that consider themselves RPG's get combat right in the way Kingdoms of Amalur does.

Only other game on that level is Dragons Dogma, and hopefully Scalebound will be the title to surpass both for me.

I have Tekken Tag Tournament 2 digital and physical. Is there any way to trick the One into downloading it or did I miss my window?
