Unrelated to the xbox one I have not been a fan of Metro since prerelease win 8.

We saw the same segment shown before, so I doubt it was the game itself--it seems to be because the dash was also running. The guy went back into the game and paused it immediately, so we can't see if it would've smoothed out.

No, it was already stuttering when it was in the window on the dash. It just continued as he went fullscreen.

Multitasking = awesome.
UI design = meh. Just Windows 8 metro tiles. Most are just plain green squares.

It looks just like my Windows 8 PC. Except my Windows 8 PC has more colorful icons.



I find it confusing that all the tiles are the exact same color, and they really do not distinguish themselves from one another. Its like you will have to read each one to find what you want until you memorize where they are.


Maybe they are customizable.


Also, it was nice to see no Ads! Has Microsoft promised the retail system will be Ad Free? Cause I don't really see a place where they could belong unless the OS will spread out the tiles and replace them with Ads.

They're pins... as in, you pin them. It would seem unlikely that you can't pin them in whatever order you want.

Surprised they haven't shown it yet, being that their dashboard/OS is the main thing that people continue to claim that Sony 'cant touch'...I'd be flaunting it.

But I think they are still trying to finalize it, since Sony pantsed them in Feburary.

It looks W8ish, which isn't a compliment, but it also didn't look any worse than Sony's big wall of blocks either...both are gonna be tiles and tiles and ads for games and paused apps...

Metro is pretty horrible for non-touch or pointer devices. If you have Windows 8, I urge you to try and navigate it by using the D-pad. Not very fun huh? Scrolling through all those tiles one by one is annoying.

Windows 8 wasn't well received. Who knows why they decided to port that UI over to XB1. It's a recipe for disaster.

OT: XMB was simple and perfectly functional. The only problem I myself have with it is the slowness with the in-game XMB. That's a RAM problem though and 360 suffers from it as well.

Metro as a UI has been shat on for ages in the OT. This isnt something new.

Although it is badly shot and the Xbox is smudged to fuck (which you'd think MS would avoid), the fact that Ryse went straight into that exact bit that they used to demo at E3 makes me wonder. How likely was it that he'd suspended it just at that precise moment?

Also, the whole schtick about not being able to access other games... so ryse beta is a go but anything else beta is a no go?

It is organised in the sense that everything is neatly shaped and presented, but it is not organised in the sense of where everything is.

The people who didn't like windows 8 obviously have a reason to be cautious about this. And that isn't something restricted to gaf. Doesn't seem like a departure from the 360 dashboard but I can see there being clutter if they don't organize it well or don't allow a large amount of customizability.

Am I the only one who thinks that the controller looks really cheap? The fonts used on the buttons are too big and bulky, and the colours too bright. It looks like a Chinese knockoff. I know, I know... aesthetics have a subjective component and the functionality is what matters, but still.
