As I mentioned earlier, my Gamestop called me around 7:20pm or so on the 8/1 letting me know they were going to start selling the Xbox One S at 9pm PST. When I arrived, there was a line of about 10 other people waiting for the 9pm time frame. I am not sure how many pre-orders my local store here had, but to see that many people at night for a refresh system was interesting to say the least. When I was waiting for my system to be processed the guy that called me said that the still had a lot of units that were pre-ordered and that everyone could of make it since it was a last minute decision for them to stay open.
I am currently updating my system, first little nit-pick is that I wish when the message that says "it's time to update" showed the Xbox One S. I know it is silly, but little things like that is something they should have modified. Right now I am at 80% staring at a image of my old Xbox One on the screen. lol.
Oh and it looks a lot smaller IRL than in pictures. It looks a little odd in my all black entertainment unit, but it looks charming all it's own. It sits next to my light bluish PS4 Uncharted 4 system, so it is not totally out of place with all black surrounding it. I don't know if I will have time to test the quality of the UHD playback. I still have my Samsung UHD hooked up, so I plan to run some tests on both to see how the Xbox One S compares in UHD playback.
System is dead silent right now, can't hear anything at all out of it. I know the fan is running cause I can feel air at the top, but it is silent. Will see if it raises volume while gaming, but my OG never did, so I doubt this will. Another note, the texture grip on the controller is nice. I have the Forza 6 Controller that came with the Forza 6 bundle and the grips on that one are a little more noticeable. The one on the S Controller are feel a little less aggressive than the F6 controller, which feels fine.
edit....
Oh...my UI when it started to apply the update just changed...now it is showing the Xbox One S as the image when it is applying the update. Yay!!! Again, it was a nit pic, but glad that they did change it once it got done downloading the update and started to apply it. It just finished applying the update and restarted and now a White Controller image appeared telling me to hit the big center "X" button, so that was also changed. But now it is saying it is time to update again. It was just a quick check and now I am going through setup. So after the initial update, it looks like all icons of the system are of the Xbox One S now.
