Xbox One Screenshot Sharing is Live!

Props MS, problem is Sony users need to download their screenshots to their USB drive and put it on their computer. XBOX users have the easier route.

My Unity-Screenshots from the screenshot-thread.

"Download?" You mean transfer or copy? You dont have to "download" anything.

They could upload them to twitter or facebook on PS4. Or, all the screenshots you save could all be moved/transfer over to a USB at once, in a bulk load.

Uploading to Facebook or Twitter, or downloading to USB, isn't this big cumbersome step.

Copy then. But doesn't uploading them on Twitter/Facebook compress them?

Screenshots are definitely making games look better than they really do, but everything posted is beautiful.

How would a dump of the display buffer make them look better than they really are. We are literally seeing the images being sent to the TV.

I don't think so. Hopping from the Upload app just after taking a screenshot to the game looks identical. Plus there have already been some direct captures compared to the PNG screenshots, and they look identical.

But note that for a speed increase you have to use an 3,5" drive

external 2,5" drives have roughly the same speed as the internal one.

If you buy a hybrid drive or an SSD, that is absolutely wrong. Why would you say that??? It almost sounds like you're deliberately trying to fool someone looking to speed up his Xbox One.
If you don't care about noise or size or external power-bricks and just for disk-space for low money, then 3.5" is slightly faster for about the same money, but if you're looking for real speed, then go for the cheapest 2.5"SSD.

by the way, I want PNG binge-copying to usb thumb drive. From PS4 and PC I'm used to taking houndreds of screenshots per game and doing that with twitter I'd end up with zero followers and a lot of uploading time wasted.

Yes but I think still images look prettier than the real thing, probably because we have more time to appreciate the fine details and don't need to focus on the gameplay. There are several screenshots from games I've played here, that made me say "I didn't realize the game was so pretty when I played it !".

In that sense yeah I get it. But it's not artificially enhancing the image quality to make it look better than it actually does.

Not from my experience. In fact after I took a picture, then pressed the guide button, I blinked for a second and when I looked back I thought my game had froze or something. Pressed the B-button and it went back to the game... It looked exactly the same from my test shots.

I'll mess around again when I get home, but I'm pretty sure it is pure frame-buffer.

It could be the case that this is exposing the limitations/weak points of some people's displays.

I think it's just that after hearing so much propaganda against the xbox one, how it's a 720p box or whatever that you are just shocked at the fact that games on the xbox one actually look phenomenal. You claiming that a screenshot somehow makes the game look better than it is is some sort of a coping mechanism.

Nah, maybe because it isn't in motion, but the screenshots definitely look better.

how does sunset overdrive look so good in those screens. A none native res game? is it doing some tricks. I thought it is supposed to be a blurry mess if it isnt 1080p?

It's 900p, stretched to 1080p. If you expect 900p to be a blurry mess then lol, that's crazy.

As the earlier poster on this same page said, propaganda...constant propaganda has that effect on people. Especially on those who don't own or played the console.

Edit: In fact, here's the crazy part: Sunset Overdrive looks even better in motion. Toward the final 3/4 of the game Fizzco robots are dispatched and there are skirmishes everywhere around the city between dozens of robots, OD, and scabs, you can't help but wonder how the Bone doesn't destroy itself with all the stuff blowing up on the screen.

Have you actually played an Xbox One? If not, is this what people actually think who haven't tried the system?

These photos do a great job of showing off the quality of Xbox games. It works as a selling feature that they should have had in there day one.

Sony needs to get their images looking this good.

Gameplay, its not by a larger margin, but the clarity is improved in the screenshots.
Is clarity improved on pc games when you hit the print screen key on your keyboard? Because that is exactly the same thing here. You are not making any sense.

I think having lossless screenshots will help Xbone in the long run in regards to public perception. We're already seeing it here, people are starting to realize that 900p is not the end of the world and that Xbone is not some super weak ass machine. It's weaker than PS4, yes, but it's still a massive improvement over last-gen and has great looking titles already.

It can help, I guess. But I think public perception regarding the Xbox One is too ingrained at this point where just uncompressed screenshots could make a difference.

No matter what for me anything less than native TV res is not going to be great looking. Xbox OR PS4.

Surprise surprise 900p is far from a "blurry mess."

A little experiment to show that we are indeed getting the display output buffer, and not the image rendering buffer.
2 shots of DR3, one with the system set to 720p, and the other with the system set to 1080p. Not my finest photography, but the image file resolution tells the story.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this approach, as it saves off exactly what's being sent to the TV... But the top image better represents what the game is actually rendering. I think that being able to save the native res image would be useful.

I'm just stating what I've noticed. The photos of certain games here look better than what I've seen in game, FH2 and Killer Instinct specifically.

EDIT: DR3 has far more jaggies as well going off the demo.

Maybe you need to calibrate your TV. Sharpness or post processing on your TV could ruin the IQ.

1080p + 4xMSAA. Yeah,it's pretty sweet. Only the order matches it but has lower resolution. 1980x800 + 4xMSAA + Temporal AA.

Thing is, I've played a ton of PC games even at 8xMSAA, and they still don't look as clear. Is something fucky with PC AA? Like is the MSAA a special variant used in FH2? Because I only get that sort of clarity when I downsample from 2160p.
