Xbox One will include TWO AA batteries

Dat hundred mill on work

AA batteries included in every box are costly, y'know

How long does rechargeable AA batteries usually last?
No idea, but in my case, I was still using the rechargeables I bought for my launch Wii, but recently killed them.
I started to become careless and overcharged them, and now half of them are almost useless.

You probably won't have that problem with built in ps3controller batteries.
They will die slowly over time, and not rapidly, due to missuse.

Generally speaking, i dont see the problem with wired, regardless of which controller it is. If it is a problem for someone, then just charge it at night or whenever you're not playing. Or buy a 2nd controller than is charged and ready to go when the 1st controller's battery needs charging (this might be a more expencive solution, but at least it is a solution if someone really wants to avoid using wires).
I have no problems with wires either, indeed I prefer wired controllers.
But with rechargeable batteries, you are free manage them the way you want.
You can charge an additonal pair and have it ready to go anytime.
You can swap them between devices.
You can get them at many stores, and one size (actually 2 sizes) fit all.

Its not about it being hard .

Its easy to make fun of double a batteries but its about up front costs vs long term costs.

I can buy an xbox one controller for what $65 plus a 4 pack of eneloops and charger for another $20.

Yes that's more than the sony controllers. But I never have to bother with plugging in my controller again.

Its the same with the battery packs they sell.

The ps4 controllers might be as easy to change batteries in as the ps3 ones however i'd still have to buy a new battery and would still have to stop playing a game to switch out the battery in the ps4.

With the one its either put two new aa in or put in a new battery pack. Swapping takes a few seconds .

Long term I'd spend more on ps4 esp if I wanted to be able to swap off quickly.

$60 + 20 for eneloops is $80 or $90 for the plug and play kit right ? With the ps4 you'd need to buy a controller to swap to when one is dead. So it be $60 a pop . I'd be looking at at least $120 per player to have a hot swap.

When looking at it that way the xbox one controller scales better than the ps4 one.

My living room has about 20 feet from the tv to the couch. I could run a cord the whole way and on mono price they are cheap but who wants that ? Esp when I have a few friends over , its just a recipe for disaster .

getting for xbox one controllers at $240 isn't a bad deal. I'd spend about $30 more for an 8 pack of eneloop with charger. Then again another $20 for an 8 pack sans charger so that's $290 for the xbox one.

I'd have to double the controllers on the ps4 to have the same functionality.

Now of course I wouldn't buy 8 ps4 controllers. The most likely scenario is that I have friends bring over theirs. But the solution is still expensive esp if someone comes over with an barely charged one. What do I do then ?

This is the most acute mental gymnastics I've seen posted in a LONG time.

Wut.

You'd have to change the batteries in the Dualshock 4 probably once every 3-4 years. You'd have to swap out batteries in the Xbox One pad every week or so.

You can charge either controller when you're not playing, by taking out the AA batteries in the XO pad and sticking them in a wall charger, or plugging a cable in to the DS4 (which you can charge whilst the console is off).

If you forget to charge them whilst not playing, for the 50+ hours you've been playing, you have to stop playing to swap out the batteries in the XO controller (and stick them on charge if you need to). With the DS4 you just plug in a cable.

Need a longer cable? £2 from Amazon. Or if as mentioned you don't want that, the dual controller charging station is $20.

Eneloops with standard charger take 7 hours to charge. DS4 less than an hour. Want quicker charging for Eneloops? That's another $20 on a fast charger.

No you wouldn't. Just charge the controller whilst the console is off. No way you're going to be playing for 50+ hours in a row. If you forget just plug the extended £2 cable in. You'll barely ever need it so you can hide it when you don't, but I doubt it'll take any longer than Swapping out and recharging some Eneloops.

Essentially this point boils down to, I don't like long cables I will barely ever actually have to use, therefore I'll spend an extra $60. It's absurd.

I've been gaming on the 360 with Eneloops and I'm happy that the Xbox One I'm able to do the same. Everyone that uses Eneloops always has charged batteries at the ready. They're sold in packs so more than likely you're always going to have batteries at the ready. Not sure where people have to stop gaming just to charge the their batteries came from.
