XBOX360ATON! Ping Pong Pals (Rockstar) announced!

I would rather play 50cent: Brokeback mountain than a ping pong game. :lol

What a waste of time. Ugh. Ridiculous.

Wow. I missed this thread completely.

Shame, looked like a lot of fun... ping pong looks good, kinda like FN360... but er... with ping pong?

THis game would play better on Revolution.

... i agree, but perhap MS have a secret up their sleeve with this.

Watch. It'll just be regular ol' ping pong, but pretty graphics. :P

Everything about the article (and subject matter) screams "this game started life as a next-gen tech demo" It seems like a smart move for them to try making some cash off of the transition period, when they're probably doing a lot of tools development and just feeling out the hardware. Sounds fun, but I don't know if I'd spend $39 on it unless I could play it with a paddle peripheral.

That actually sounds pretty reasonable.

I wonder if they can squeeze this kind of graphics (character models look superb) in next version of GTA, hmm...

What I said earlier in the thread:

QFT.

IGN will hype up ANYTHING because they're a bunch of idiots. It could be Barbie Horse-Racing in Wonderland for all you know.

Ping Pong! :lol :lol :lol :lol

Looking back at the early predictions is just too funny. GTA? DIABLO 3? :lol

You guys just never learn. Since when did IGN ever deliver on any supposedly awesome exclusive that they have up their sleeves?

Fucking IGN....

You clearly underestimate this game...

I think it'll be some Fight Night Round 3-kind of game.

Wow.
Total letdown! :lol

MS think they can win with these kind of exclusive games. Must be crazy :lol
Will sell 20 games? :lol

? didn't read the entire thread, but what does this has to with MS? did they make it? or publishing it? it looks like a take two/rockstar thing.

The funny thing is that lots of people fall for it every time. The last time I remember them doing this they said a huge Xbox exclusive was going to the PS2 - everyone started saying DoA, NG, KOTOR, etc and it turned out to be Psychonauts.

I gotta give credit to IGN though, this thread alone has over 34,000 views. :lol

I knew about this game a couple months ago, because all my coworkers at syrupnyc were invited to voiceact for the game. :)

.... oh ... lord... :lol

this is the back spin slice cross court, i wonder what happens when the return goes squewed?

They're going to hide another "hot coffee" in the game. Those wild post-tournament table tennis parties...

No, but literal hot coffee would be awesome as a happy little joke. It can be a between-match powerup that makes your character faster.

Someone will sue them again for encouraging performance-enhancing drug use.

So even for a ping-pong game, they have to doctored their pics? Heh...

Or maybe you're an idiot and that's what it really looks like!

Maybe that's the point! Work on a little casual game that can pay for some new technology and test some stuff out?!?

Plus, who says this is stupid? The same people that probably think a virtual pet is stupid and would never sell??? (Nintendogs, Pokemon, etc.)

Let's also remember that Rockstar just showed an up-coming game. IGN made it into a media event.

Idiots!

I still don't understand why this isn't a current-gen game. Houser talks big about the use of next-gen power

Houser said:
The power of the new hardware and the higher resolution of new televisions really allow us to give the game an immediacy and physicality that wasn't possible on current-gen hardware. Rudimentary ball and racket physics would have been possible but we wanted to wait for the 360 because it allowed us to bring a completely different level of production and technology to the game.

but it's obviously bull-shit. The physics needed to accurately create a ping-pong game have been available for years- topspin and backspin aren't all that processor-intensive - and the idea that better graphics and sweat-mapping are going to add so much is ridiculous. This is what XBLA should be all about. You want to make a simple game about a simple subject? Use a team of 6 guys over four months, make it fun and accessible, and throw it on XBLA for 10 bucks. Done and done.

Also, is there any reason to believe this won't be another timed-exclusive? R* is famous for them, and by releasing it in May, they're pretty much guaranteeing that they'll have six or so months before the other consoles release.

360 timed-exclusive -> PS3, Rev launch title FTW!
