Xenoblade Chronicles X - Review Thread

Have this on preorder and going to pick this up on the 4th, looking forward to it but won't start it till I beat Witcher 3. Almost done the game but don't want to overburden myself with to many open world games.

Hmm better reviews than I thought. For whatever reason I detected a negative vibe from the game after the Japanese version came out.

I'm just not sure I have the time to enjoy the universe. I saw a video review where they claimed the game takes one or two hour play sessions into account, but I'm not so sure. Will ponder a purchase closer, since nothing else Wii U related is jumping out at me for Xmas.

Sounds like a well paced game. I've dropped some RPGs after 20 hours that felt like eternity, and finished others after 100 hours that flew by.

Pre-ordered thanks to a cyber Monday deal, might not play it right away but I don't expect to be seeing it on sale or discounted anytime soon.

what deal?

My roommate has a Wii U. I was thinking about getting the game and playing on his console.

Just looking for verification: if I were to play this, the disk is something I can carry to another wii u, but the save data is tied to his console unless I do a full transfer to another console, correct?

Unless the online elements locks the save files to the system, you should be able to save/back-up your file and transfer to another system. I know some games on the Wii wouldn't let you transfer save files if they had an online element (like The Last Story iirc). Dunno if same thing applies on the Wii U.

Probably the Amazon 15% off, that's the only one I'm aware of.

Happy with Best Buy's offer on this. GCU knocks it to $48 and it comes with $10 "epizza cash" which is just a prepaid Mastercard, so it's basically $38.

Don't think the Amazon deal works on this title. The preorder 15% has a limited selection.

My only worry is Japan/Import GAF seemed to encounter issues many hours in. I just hope all the reviews played enough hours to see it through to give a legit score.

At any rate I'm excited.

I didn't expect the game be be on the same level as Chronicles. Scores look pretty in line with my expectations. Can't wait!

"Xenoblade Chronicles X puts players in a rich, vibrant world filled with a myriad of monsters, locations, and a deep story that tells the tale of civilization starting over, but bringing all these great things together in a cohesive way doesn’t go without fault."

I don't know if that's really the case. Maybe you'll be surprised. There's certainly a lot of different content in this game compared to the original.

PM me your NNID for future Xeno co-op.

Sorry, I walk a cold, lonely road. With randoms occasionally.

I really was not a fan of the combat in Chronicles 3D. Has it been updated/changed at all for X?

I just hated the auto-target, auto-pilot combat. Like I could put distance between me and an enemy and still get hit by attacks that clearly didn't even touch me.

Damn. The impressions and reviews have made me go from "waiting" to.... "should I just go for it?" :-/. I STILL haven't beaten Xenoblade Chronicles, and I imported it when it came out in EU. I guess I can play X on console and Xenoblade on the go....

Should I play through Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii before I start this or can I just jump right in?

You should play the Wii game just because it's awesome, but it's not necessary. Might help you get acclimated though. X takes the original's gameplay systems and alters/adds a bunch of stuff on top,

Technobuffalo: Buy.

Xenoblade Chronicles X has a lot to offer fans of the JRPG genre. It’s rewarding, addictive and fun. Monolith Soft knocked it out of the park.

Xenoblade Chronicles X can be tedious. Point-blank, if you don’t like games that make you work for their wonders, you probably won’t like this one. However, if you know that your signing up for a game that will take you 80 hours at least to really enjoy, that you’ll constantly be learning, that you’ll hit walls of frustration between bouts of glory, Xenoblade Chronicles X is one of the best games of the year. If you can get through the wilderness, this game is endlessly rewarding. Know yourself, then make a choice. For me? Xenoblade Chronicles X is a buy.

Some of these playtime numbers the reviewers are throwing out there. This'll probably last me a lot longer than 80 hours lol.

Wait its a prepaid master? So you can use it on anything or is it strictly pizza?

You know, those are some damn good reviews. If we recognize that reviewing has gotten harsher for titles that could have easily gotten 90+ before, this is damn good.

Glad I bought it.

How often can we ride or transformer? Does it require specialized fuel?

I think it does. I think it also automatically fills up when you aren't in it. You can probably equip certain parts to it to make it last longer? Dunno.

Is it possible to level up all the things like Mechanical, Biological, etc things to max to open the "chests"? I think you can level up those when your Blade level increases. Wasn't sure if that was the only way to do so.

I don't know if there are parts that increase it but the survival guide video says how much fuel it has is determined by the type with I think the heavy ones carrying the most.

Me after reading the Jim Sterling, Gamespot and Gamexplain reviews...
