I definitely expect this to be a game that is hard to find in 2 years or so, but probably not to the degree of the original. Either way I wouldn't expect a price drop...pretty much ever. By the time Nintendo would lower the price, the game will probably be hard to find...making the drop pointless.
Did you like exploring the other maps? I think this game is a lot more of that. Sterling had the same complaints about Mechonis and said this game is like Gaur Plains/Bionis Leg made into a huge open world.

Oh nice. Yeah, I was having a good time with the areas before. Once I hit Mechonis interest dived off a cliff. That factory, holy shit. Tried going back to finish the game a few times but I couldn't do it.

I'm not saying that some jackasses aren't going to raise the price of the retail disc for some reason, but the game is available at no more than its launch price, precisely because it is available digitally.
Like, unless you have a weird aversion to digital games, you will be able to purchase XCX at $59.99 or less until such time as Nintendo closes the Wii U digital store, which is very different from the first game, which still isn't available digitally in the US

The most interesting weapons to me were in the first half of the video. A lot of cool stuff there.

Honestly I hope for a lot of spoilers. I would want the art book to cover as much of the game as possible.

Isn't the first Xenoblade digitally available for Wii U in US? It sure is in EU.

Honestly that's mostly because previews or impressions from both Japanese reviews and stateside imports were both fairly middling to "eh"
I know a ton of people were put off reading the Kotaku impression piece so now that more outlets are giving actual reviews it seems like a lot of people with lowered or tempered expectations are nicely surprised.
Lord knows I had little interest in picking this up when it came out, but I'm debating it now thanks to that GamExplain with Chugga

This game still looks gorgeous to me. Probably always will. And these guys are making an open world game releasing in a few days. I like how this video has the ambient background noise in addition to the music, while cutting out the other game sounds.

I bought this back in April and put it aside due to other games coming out, but I've been getting back into it thanks to the recent hype around the domestic release. It really is a good game with a LOT to do.
Some fairly important aspects of the system aren't explained very well or at all during the course of regular gameplay, but once you understand them it's pretty easy to understand.
Also, the soundtrack is fire

As annoying as those "impressions" were, I feel like it was necessary just to set expectations. We're in an era where every game is expected to be better than everything that came before it. The mixed impressions have allowed Xenoblade X to now simply be what it is: a great game.
I don't consider it all that surprising, however. The complaints in the import impressions are all things that western critics don't pay much attention to. The skeptics were being naive to think the west would share those same views on a wide scale.

This is the first time I've ever actually pre-ordered a game despite having hyped about plenty in the past. Something about this feels like the end of an era for me. Wii U is my only current gen system, so even though I'm excited for the distant Scalebound and FF15, it still feels as if there's nothing I'm personally looking forward to after this.
My future gaming plans are to finish Xenoblade Chronicles on 3DS and spend 2016 on Xenoblade, my entire backlog, and whatever DLC has me coming back to Smash. I doubt I'll get a PS4 until holiday 2015.
The reviews here have me even more excited. Yet somehow even more sad. As if I'll be looking back at this time from the future as the last time I had such childlike excitement for a video game, something I've maintained all my life. I hope I'm wrong.

Hey GAF long time lurker! Super stressful week with finals but having this on Friday would be awesome, Best Buy just changed my CE order to preparing to ship. I can never tell if an item will arrive on launch day with them (Rodea), or 2 weeks late (Fallout 4, MGS5).

It was the distance from the modem apparently. I moved the modem to a room closer to the Wii U and it worked flawless now. Weird since it was reporting perfect signal from were the modem was before
But at least now the modem is in the center of the house, signal should reach everywhere perfectly now.
