Xnews replacement?

I've been looking for something that can replace XNews. I find that if I download too many headers, xnews gets hung up alot and becomes unresponsive. I'd like something with the same interface, and ease of downloading mutliple part binary attachments. I guess xnews isnt' updated anymore so I'm looking for a current newsreader that won't "hang". Any suggestions out there?

Free Agent doesn't decode yENC though AFAIK. That's kind of essential for binaries in some groups.

Just recently I switched from xnews to newsleecher for pretty much the same reason. I could only download so many headers before Xnews would start to bleed CPU and Memory cycles and then lockup. I'd have to delete the database every so often just to keep it stable.

Newsleecher seems incredibly fast in comparison. Aside from the time it takes to download headers, I can actually get a months worth of headers (my provider's limit) without it locking up or freaking out. It also doesn't take a bunch of HDD space to cache those headers unlike Xnews.

The only problem is that it's not free like Xnews. I'm still trying to decide if I should buy it after the trial is over.

I like Newsleecher. I've tried newsbin, agent, grabit, etc. Out of all of them, newsleecher is the best to me since its not much of a resource hog, allows for multiple connections, and is very easy to filter and search for specific posts.
