James Bond: Aaron Taylor-Johnson ‘offered 007 role’ and is ‘set to replace Daniel Craig’

They should bring back Pierce Brosnan to do one more with a proper send off before starting with a new Bond. Do something like Logan with him

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Cavill sorta played a Bond role in The Man from UNCLE. He looked the part and was really good I thought.

That was almost a decade ago though. He's too old for Bond now.
I saw that movie and found him pretty dull.

He’s just kind of one note.

I'm not a big fan of this guy. He was so wooden in Godzilla. Sure, he looks the part, but there's just something about his acting that falls flat.
I kinda agree. Connery, Moore, and Brosnan could just walk in and command the attention in the room. Dalton could kill you with a stare. Craig had that animalistic ferocity. This guy is gonna be a Lanzenby, it'll all come down to the script and hope that it plays to his strengths.

If any of it is true, if course.

The best news here is that he is on the younger side.

A lot of people here and elsewhere keep asking for their favorite 90s and 2000s stars who are in their 40s/50s or older.

Hes a good actor, hes got range. Maybe a little safer of a choice but I dont hate it.

In lieu of the casting I hope they go for some more bold storytelling directions tho.

No enough with subverting expectations, people in todays Hollywood aren’t good enough to pull that stunt successfully.

If you want traditional storytelling, then it needs to be really well directed and acted to stand out. Good stuntwork helps too. Even if you erase that twist ending, Casino Royale would still be a great movie due to those aspects.

Also, I don’t know if American Hollywood is in charge of writing a British Spy movie and how that works. If I were to recommend a writer’s team for new Bond, it would be the talents behind the show Slow Horses.

He's also really great in Nocturnal Animals and he has great comedic timing as shown in Bullet Train. He has the physique, looks baller in a suit, is suave.

He'd be an amazing Bond.

He has got many similar qualities to him as Craig, negative ones as well. He has been quite forgettable in the movies that I have watched, and so was Craig. But it ended up good. So I am cautiously optimistic.

Shame about his 57 year old groomer of a wife. :messenger_neutral:

I liked him a lot in Bullet Train -- so I'd be ok with this.

Honestly, I just hope it's better than the Craig run, which was, aside from Casino & Skyfall - absolute dog shit.

The Sun is the National Enquirer of the UK. Everyone there knows it’s 100% bullshit.
Nu uh! They just ran that story about Kate out and about, very happy. We doubted it, then there was that 100% convincing blurry ohito of a woman who could almost pass as Kate walking eith a nondescript guy who could be anyone.

Totes legit!!!! :p

I'm pretty sure this was a planted story just to guage reaction. For any brocollis reading this, hire me and I'll fix your Bond issues for a modest fee!

No idea who he is but I'll give the benefit of a doubt. Most people hated the idea of Craig being Bond when it was announced, and in the end he was amazing (and Casino Royale is still one of my favorite movies ever).

The Sun didn't say that he had been cast, but that the job was his if he wanted it and they expected him to sign. The Variety article doesn't disprove that.

Total curve ball and I'm not entirely sure if an Asian-American Bond 007 would work -- I wouldn't really go for a race swap if he didn't have the right demeanour. But I saw this guy in The Walking Dead with a British accent and within a second I thought that guy could nail it.

Bit older too, so could only get probably three films out of him.

Still not sure, but just spit balling.

I agree with you, I think there are ways to have a non-white Bond that still honor the character as written by Fleming AND expand the role to the larger British commonwealth. The constant cry for a "black Bond" is really just "Idris Elba as Bond" and that ship has sailed, I think. He probably was the only black actor that could have broken into the role with the least amount of general bellyaching. I think it helps when an actor has Bond-like roles under their belt to better sell them to the audience, so while there are some SE asian and Indian actors that have the right look of elegant, but dangerous, charisma they kinda need a breakout Bond-adjacent role first. Henry Golding was a fav for a while as well

Question is, do they address it specifically and have racially charged plotlines or just move past it beyond some quick jokes (like have Golding or Dale 'redo' You only Live Twice and have a "no need for make up, I already pass for Japanese" dig at Connery)? I'd vote for the latter so we can just have good Bond movies rather than constant have to be lectured at.

I know Idris Elba is too old, but I don't give a fuck. At least give the man a part in a new bond so we could see how he'd be.
