Sega has announced Yakuza 0 Director's Cut for the Nintendo Switch 2, slated to launch simultaneously with the console on June 5, 2025. In an interview with Famitsu, RGG Studio talked about what the new take on the beloved 2015 title will offer.

According to producer Makoto Suzuki, Yakuza 0 Director's Cut will include episodes that were cut from the original game, totaling around 26 minutes of extra cutscenes. These will feature interactions between Kiryu and Nishiki, Kiryu and Kuze, as well as Majima and "somebody." Suzuki suggests that these new scenes will delve deeper into things fans of the series are curious about, while not being too high context for first-time players.

Red Light Raid, the new online multiplayer mode that will feature in Yakuza 0 Director's Cut, was designed to make use of the Switch 2's new chat functions and C button. In this mode, you team up with friends to battle hordes of enemies. The game will boast an impressive 60 playable characters that players will unlock as they progress. According to Suzuki, the online mode will be playable solo too.

The producer also confirms that Yakuza 0 Director's Cut will support 4K in docked mode and run at 60fps.

Yakuza 0 Director's Cut releases on June 5 for the Nintendo Switch 2.

4K60 for this? That's surprising. I know it's not a super intensive game, but... well, the Switch has left me with a bit of PTSD. Hopefully that spec is without relying on DLSS and the like.

Anyway, I'm very curious about this. Y0 is easily my favorite Yakuza game (unless we're counting the Judgment series which... J1 might come out on top for me) and a game I've wanted to revisit for a long time. Assuming the presentation is up to snuff on the S2, I'm in.

Nah, that's not enough for me to double dip, maybe just maybe if that mode was singleplayer and if this wasn't a Switch exclusive.

Cant wait for this to hit PC and play it again for the 3rd time. Seeing rumors this is a timed exclusive. I dont think Sega will lock this one behind the Switch 2, they're pretty good about releasing games on everything.

Also they are including an english dub but Kiryu is being voiced by that annoying youtuber Yong Yea. All the other characters english VA actors sound fitting. Hopefully someone can mod Yong Yea out like in Gaiden and Infinite Wealth.

If they manage to put the full game on the cart, I will get it.

I do hope they will release the new content as DLC for Xbox/PS and PC.

Did the game always have a dub?
I thing they started adding English dubbing when Yakuza 7 (Like a Dragon) came out.

Also, the OG Yakuza 0 had A LOT of conversations even without Japanese dubbing. You can tell they relocated the budget to offering more content instead of voiced dialogues.

"Support 4K" is not the same as runs at 4K.

Let's see.

Also, really fuckin' hope this extra content is retroactively patched to the other versions as well.

Did the game always have a dub?

No, they stopped dubbing after the first game, then restarted with Like a Dragon (Yakuza 7).

I usually wouldn't get excited about 26 minutes of additional cutscenes, but this game has the best story in any video game ever

it is literally my #1 when it comes to story

curious if they plan on tweaking/improving combat. if not, the multiplayer mode doesn't sound all that appealing to me

Now that it has a dub I'll likely pick it up.

I can only hope so. That would be the best possible outcome.

Dub is legit good but I can't. The best character got the worst dub. Kiryu's Japanese voice is so fitting and iconic.

If they really wanted to add some expanded content for this game...they should've added more Hostess club ladies, and new features.

That has to be with DLSS, I would eat my shoe if the Switch could run Yakuza 0 at 4K 60 without it. DLSS isn't a bad thing though, later versions of DLSS are usually so good they often look better than native resolution.

Whoa, it's like a whole new game!

I imagine those inedit scenes are where the characters stare into each other's eyes
