Can please someone explain me how do I unlock the locked tiers for abilities? I have ALL the abilities for Beast/Slugger trees and yet I dont have access to the next tier. I've talked to the girl in the pier to see if I could unlock more but it's a no-go.

Got early thanks to SimplyGames and I've been playing since Saturday. I've never played a Yakuza game before (shameful I know), but damn is this good! There's so much depth. I'm absolutely loving
managing my cabaret club, hiring hostesses, training them up etc. Where can I hire more, aside from exchanging CP? I have the stuck-up bitch who had the guy running errands. Anyone else?
All the side stories are a lot of fun too (and many really really odd as well).

see i know bralwer is more his style, but i'm enjoying rush a lot more, yeah
feels way better for crowd control & certain bosses so far

1 on 1, for sure the harder hitting modes are 'better', but when there is more than one enemiy, rush is just so much better, I think, for me at least, it's down to the way the dodging and lock on works (or doesn't!), it doesn't always seem to work in brawler, and beast is just way too slow.

Wow, I'm 23 hours in and only on chapter 8, this is a HUGE game. Granted, I spent a lot of time doing side missions and entertainment. Absolutely loving this, and loving that I have more game left. Surprisingly emotional scenes too that were unexpected. It's rare to see this quality of story in video games very much.

Here's hoping this game is a huge success for Sega in the west!

wait where where
it's been forever since part 1 for me!
In the first chapter when we have to
get to the offices of the debt collector
, the classic Yakuza 1 exploration theme plays. You know, that dark and foreboding theme when you have to get somewhere critical to the story. I expect it'll play again.

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
Quick question GAF:

I'm currently inbetween ISPs and houses and whatnot so I have no 'real' access to internet (I can hotspot with my cell phone but only for megabyte large, crucial patches, nothing along the lines of modern 10gb+ Day patches...)

So my question is, can/should I just get this by getting a physical copy of the game or do I need some important day 1 patch or content which the game would suffer from not having (eg important performance patches or whatnot...)?

Thanks

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
For all new players. Baseball bats are your friend.

Am sure you will figure out the timing of that when you meet a certain persistent NPC lol.

The game has been out for a year and a half in Japan, so it would be weird if this new version wasn't up to date, so I think you are good to go!

If there is any time the phrase "greater than the sum of it's parts" is relevant, it's with this game.

I am sure there will be a lot of people who will look at some parts of the game in isolation, probably complaining that the gameplay and combat is simplistic, or that the world isn't big enough, or that the graphics are bad, but if you do that, you are missing the point.

It's a combination of all these parts that makes this a special game.

I think there's a small day one patch but it's nothing that you need to play the game. Also, if you can find the Launch day Business Edition, I'd say the Card holder more than makes up for the trouble of going out and trying to get the physical copy.

I ordered it from Amazon UK and it's just saying "Not Yet Shipped" with an expected date of Thursday but if you look at the store page they don't seem to have any in stock. Not exactly filling me with confidence.

I wasn't prompted to download any patches so you should be good

Can someone tell me what the icons on the left of the screen are for?

I have one up constantly that looks like some kind of gamepad or something and I had another above it for a while that looked like a bottle....

The game never explained what these were and I'm a couple hours in now.

As good as this game seems to be with nailing awesome little details, I can't believe they didn't give Bad Boy Aku an actual bass guitar :p.

The bottle one is for alcohol. It tracks how much alcohol you made your character drink.

Depending on how intoxicated you are, you'll find difficulty in making your character turn when running. Also, you'll pick fights more easily.

The upside is that your Heat gauge fills more quickly. Also, certain moves/fighting style incorporate being drunk into them.

Yakuza series system data found.

You got the Dragon Amulet and Mad Dog Gloves as presents.

I played Ishin on my earlier PS4 before the pro.

Jesus. This is amazing

No patches and dlcs, so you're good to go.

I'm the other way, anything other than rush feels......off.....to me.

This is me as well. It's just so fast and fluid that playing any other style just feels wrong atm.

real talk, that final boss on EX-HARD or whatever my one remaining trophy is, that's the one that's stopping me...fuck those QTE penalties
Man, I can't even imagine how frustrating that must have been. I was ready to hit my head against the wall in my first playthrough and I was playing at normal difficulty!

Not sure, since I'm still pretty early in the game but supposedly you have to do the sub-stories for each character.

Rush style feels SOOOO GOOOD.

I know, right? It's so addictive.

That's your pager. You can see its messages in the pause menu.

wait, what? so i cant get these items?

There are always minor bonus items for having previous Yakuza games save data, but don't worry, it's nothing special, I still have a sealed Ishin copy lying next to Y0 copy and won't even bother creating a save for those items.

btw. Dancing mini-game is sooooo goooooood, but very difficult at first to get down the timing, already maxed out all Kiryu's dance-offs.

Well, I'm currently #1 on the Out Run Rankings. Probably not going to last as there has to be someone out there who has completed a route and just hasn't uploaded their score yet. I came up just short of finishing :(

Only 6 hours left at work before I can play this!!!

I bought a cheap, used copy of 3 to get me familiar with the mechanics and accidentally put 17 hours into it at the weekend. I'm hooked on the series now!

How well regarded in the series is 3? Should I expect 0 to be more of the same or better?
Either way I win.

I only just unlocked the cabaret stuff, wtf it's so in-depth.

Its absolutely wonderful and, to me, much better than Kiryu's business (which has little to no interaction aside from clearing "troubles").

The cabaret minigame and progression are an absolute joy to play. Feels so satisfying to fight for that wealthy clientele and once you have 2-3 seated at the same time drop that happy hour bomb.

How do I save the game? I assumed it was autosaving as I couldn't find the option but when I started up the game again there was no save and I had to start again

Edit; nevermind, I found it. You save at payphones for anyone else wondering

12 hours in and I'm still in Chapter 2, someone please send help

Loving this so much, Rush style is obviously the way to go. Just made Mr. Shakedown kiss the floor for the first time!

Only an hour and a half for me!

Should've tried to work as much as I could with my thesis yesterday, cause with this and ToB, I don't think I'll be able to do any meaningful writing for the rest of the week lol.

I am developing a cold at the minute so who knows, maybe a couple of sick days?

Went to JBhifi and EB games and both had sold out. Good job for not ordering enough.

Man I feel like I picked up the last copy in Brisbane CBD.
And yeah I feel they really understocked this game in all stores, I honestly don't think they knew what they had in this release. The guy at the EB store had no idea what the Yakuza series was...

I'm both extremely happy that this is selling very well here in Australia, and alittle pissed that more people aren't able to easily pick up a copy, possibly impacting on sales alittle.

Because the more Yakuza I can squeeze into my life, the better person I become, and the better the human species as a whole becomes.
