Easily one of my most anticipated titles of the year. My favorite series. Got a couple of days booked off work to poop sock this bad boy (and RE7) Can't wait for you all to experience this fantastic game. Don't take it seriously, because the game sure as hell doesn't!
It'll be nice to get some context on some the stuff I saw last year when I played through the Japanese version. I'd be curious how many of you are jumping in for the first time.

i'm really pumped for good sales on this one, and that's something i've not felt for the series before, sadly...4 was a masterpiece and deserved way more love. but anecdotal stuff here on GAF, hype online in general & the great reviews are keeping me upbeat, despite the (again) questionable release schedule!
honestly, Sega (and Sony) are clearly trying again, with a physical release here & Kiwami + 6 already confirmed, it's important we run with that!
You guys better support this or else

I've properly started with this one and don't feel lost and confused like my very brief attempt at Yakuza 3, thread title confirmed to be accurate.

I've had it preoredered on a lark for a few months, but once those reviews started dropping this became one of my most hyped games. The only other game I've played in the series was Yakuza 0, so I look forward to this and Kiwami this year getting me back in it!

Alright guys, first order of business, how the f*ck do you do "Essence of steadfast counter" in Kiryu's Brawler style? I get knocked down on purpose, and there's no HEAT action prompt. :{

yeah i literally just tied that one up last week...you're gonna want something like this on deck when that emotional rollercoaster's done, i say go for it! plenty of time to finish up while it's shipping, haha

2017 is starting off so well. I've got RE7 on PC preloading for me and this to pick up after work tomorrow. I really hope the word of mouth this game seems to be getting will translate into sales.

that's true, and even if we get our outside hope of a kiwami 2, it likely wouldn't be here for a while..2 really is the odd man out, price/format wise. 3 and 4 are easily obtained, 5 too but those are all stuck in last gen, really sucks there's no PS3 BC & many don't keep their older hardware i guess

also, if anyone else is looking for more hype: Yakuzafan is an incredible site run by a good dude, and they are working overtime to keep hype/content coming in the countdown to the official launch!
yeah, i almost put a section in Q&A for the bigger franchises dropping on the same day: Resident Evil 7, KH 2.85a etc but decided to just focus on Yakuza...i love Sega to death but they've been known to stagger release dates in a way that sends them to die sometimes (see; Binary Domain), glad to see all the love this one's getting paint a different picture here!
