YAKUZA 5 LOCALIZED FOR PS3

Is there any OT for Yakuza 4? I'm barely in Chapter 3 and almost all i've being doing is picking up random fights on the street :P Also, i need to share my like for Akiyama
even when Hana-chan is the real kickass here :P

make sure you do all of Hana's quests, it's one of my favorite side story chains in the whole game :)

Aren't there a crap ton of licensed songs in the game? I wonder how they will handle it.

There are seven songs done by Kyosuke Himuro, including the main theme Bloody Moon (which is more than likely going to be cut), used through out the game at several points. If they're willing/able to renew the licenses for at least the inserts then it should be no problem...if not, then they'll have to get Hidenori Shoji to create new material or just reuse songs from the soundtrack.

So, the digital versions do not recognize old save files. Anyone confirm this?

It should, the only reason it wouldn't is because of what version you are playing.

So if you have saves from 3 and 4 you will get the items in 5 when it releases.

Edit: I forgot that digital games can handle saves differently from retail so might be wrong here.

Noted. Can't wait to see what her story is about.

Did you have an old Yakuza 4 save?

Oh you mean an old Yakuza 4 file? No, i don't have it. I remember some people saying that the PS3 handles the saves of retails and digital games diferently; but i don't remember if that was true or not.

It's funny, my first reaction when seeing this announcement was "Oh wow, verendus redeemed. He was right about this do, he must be right about the FFVII remake."

We know what happenned next...haha!

As for Yakuza, I'm kinda tempted to plunge into it soon. Will definitely take a look at earlier titles soon.

Ah, ok. Yea some games could use both. I guess Yakuza is not one of them. Had 88hours in part 4.

Is Yakuza 3 an okay spot to join in if you haven't played any Yakuza games? I see I can get it off Amazon for pretty cheap but my PS2 is kaput so I wouldn't be able to play 1 and 2.

could be worse, I had lost my 100+ hours files when my Phat PS3 YLOD on me...and I didn't take the opportunity to upload my saves for it when the cloud option finally became available for Plus.

other than fully experiencing the story from the first two games, it's perfectly fine to start from 3, you'll have the option to watch the recaps if you want to know what happened.

Yes. There are recap movies for the first two.

Personally I would skip right to 4. 3 has a very slow start and even as a big fan of the series I found it a little grating for a while. It's definitely the worst one.

You can go back and play 3 if you like 4 enough. 4 also has the recap vids for 1, 2 and 3.

I started with 3 and fell in love with the series <3 so yes it's an okay place to start.

Only mainline (aka not Kenzan) Yakuza game I've not completed (did start though) now is Y2.

People should really start at the first game, not the 3rd one. 2 is one of the best in the series and the 3 starts immediately where 2 leaves off, like in the same cutscene if I recall correctly. There are characters introduced in the first game that are in every other game in the series, even 5.

Yeah but it's a lot harder to track down 1 & 2, and that's assuming you have a PS2 or PC to play them on. 3's recaps were pretty good.

Majima swag levels through the fucking roof.

Man, every time I see this thread I just smile from ear to ear. Still the best news of the fucking year!
It made me bite the bullet and buy Yakuza 1 and 2 off ebay since I never got the chance to play them.

He shows up again in Ishin, as a British arms dealer.

I actually saw that, does he even speak though? I'd be a little surprised if they even got back his actor at all

I like it a lot more than Ishin's cover and plus both protagonists look badass

Yea, if people can find and play the first two games, more power to them (especially 2). However, the thing with the first one is that the controls for that one in particular didn't age that well (if I recall it was closer to the Spikeout games). The changes made 2 are better and pretty much the basis for most of the games moving forward.

Plus the dub didn't age too well either, despite having some talented actors on it. Still a good story however, so if you can tolerate those two major issues then enjoy the game if you have the chance to play it.

Mind blown! I picked up on almost all of the guest stars in that game but I somehow missed that one.

I'm really looking forward to replaying 5 in English, I'm hoping they won't cut any of the mini games or side stories like in 3 (I can't really think of any that would be cut, unless they don't include the drumming game, and I loved that in the Japanese version). I'm really looking forward to doing the "another life" stuff again - the taxi racing feels sorta like Daytona with heat actions which is no bad thing! Seijima's hunting mini game feels incredibly fleshed out, I spent hours on that one completing all the missions.
Shinada's baseball missions are also really well done, I much prefer them to the normal batting cage stuff.

Man, I remember first time seeing Goro in a suit and I was like WAT. I thought he was more of a thug type in Yakuza 1. lol

does Goro first looking swag in Yakuza 2 or 3? not really sure. I think in Y2, you see him working in construction or something.

In Yakuza 2:
Majima has taken over Purgatory as Kage/Hanaya (the florist) is now working for the police again. He actually didn't want Purgatory for the hidden camera network but for the land, which he develops over the next 3 games into the luxury shopping mall/hotel area Kamuracho Hills. He's really badass in the game as well, between taking down most of Goda's men single handedly and also disarming several bombs in a really hilarious fashion.

He's cooler in the 2nd game in my opinion. He has his moments in the third game but especially in the second game he steals every scene he is in. I think he first appears in his badass suit in the third game, you see a meeting between the heads of the Tojo clan families where he is present and dressed up. Before that point he's always shown in his trademark yellow jacket and leather pants.

If it's impossible for you to play the first two, then feel free to jump in. But I loved the first two games. Lots of amazing revelations that are glossed over in the recaps.

It's where I started, they have have videos in game that summarize the events of the first two games.

I'd urge anyone new to the series to buy both 3 and 4 on PSN, that way Sega can see that demand exists for the franchise. Heck, I'm planning to re-buy a PS3 next Summer when 5 releases. Shame about no disc release but I'll take what I can get.

FYI 3 is not on PSN, what they added this weekend was 4 and Dead Souls.

I'd rebuy if it was on PS4 :( I've moved on now... Will unearth it again for Y5 of course.

That RGG0 in a PS4 looks _awesome_. If they bring it here ... maybe the reason for me to buy one ps4, at last.
