I had money on 2 PSP's since 1-4-05 at a mall location.

Went to mall a few weeks back... Whoop! The store is all boarded up. Thanks for tellin me guys, considering I had money on 2 PSP's.
So, I had to track down which store was taking the Business from the closed store.
I found the store.

Asked the manager whats up.
He assured me that:
A) My 2 PSP orders were intact.
B) (After I asked about "Bundles") That I Would not have to buy anything extra.

So......
Friday, less than a week from freaking launch.. I find a message on my phone stating that the PSP's will be in on Thursday and I must buy a game in order to get one.

Wtf?

So....

I decide to hoof it to the store to bitch at them...
...after bitching at them...
The dooood says, "what's your name?". I tell him, he looks me up in the system...

"Oh yeah, you have a PSP reserved."
"Uh.. what.. "A".. No.. I have TWO skippy."
"Oh, now there's a One per cutomer limi..."

Gimme my money back bitch.

Best Buy campin here I come.
Sorry EB.. Guess the litterally 1000's of dollars I spent is now going to big blue. I'm done with your ass. Sent off some Emails, and called the Dist Manager.. No reply from either. Go figure.

DUR DUR DUR PRE-0RDURRRRRING IS A GUD IDEUH! :lol

When will you people learn?

In any case, I see no need to camp for a PSP.

If the PSP sells out on day one, I'll become the next Pope. Hot nunsex for all!

Or:

demi said it best. :X

I think people hold the individual actions of stores against chains entirely too much... for me Circuit City is a good example of that.

There's a CC REAL close to the house, The missus and I have had nothing but problems there... terrible service, shoddy work(installed remote start in my car... god what a nightmare), etc.... so I told the missus I was done with them.... she suggested I try a store a little bit further from the house... and I have... it's not as convenient... but damn the sales people are quick, smart, attentive, and not badgering.. it's like f'n night and day....

Your situation sucks BTW.

Was your previous store Mall of America?

Definitely depends on the store, although certainly more stores are run by Nazis than not.

However, I'm blessed that I have a very lo-traffic store nearby, and they haven't yet closed it (been open 5+ years now). They're opening at midnight tonight for the 20, yes just 20, of us that pre-ordered a PSP. No bundles required. Tho I plan to buy some accessories and a game or two....

The employees rarely give any of the pre-order, trade-in, magazine, or replacement plan spiels, which rocks....

Went in one night and the clerk and his GF were eating dinner... they'd converted the counter into a nice table for 2. If I recall right, I wanted a game that had just come out... he didn't ask me if I pre-ordered or bug me about future pre-orders. He just sold me 1 of the two copies they had left and let me go about my bidness.

I like stores that don't booshit.

So does she! :lol

Hmmm I may have to think about inviting some of the GAF folks to the wedding or after party...

"yeah hon these are all the other gaming geeks I hang out online with..."

I'd love to see how introductions with other people at the party go... ;)

Why did you let EB piss on you like that?

When things like that happen, don't stand down, just keep bitching and complaining, and causing a scene, and threatening to talk to higher and higher levels of management. It gets results, AND it's fun.

Goodcow knows what he's talkin about. Find aways to strike back like he does.

Plus EB doesnt give a shit about your money, for everyone that stops shopping there, someone is having a birthday and reaching the age where they can begin shopping there. You dont matter enough to pull the 'you wont get my money' move. Ya gotta do something goodcow-ish.

Let the magazine racks be dammed! :lol

like morphix for example, he could go in today and spend well beyond what you would have ever spent, making your efforts to 'show them whats what' pretty damned useless.

They'll only remember you if you make their working life difficult.

You know it boy, the bitch that fucked with me at Gamestop learned her lesson. I wouldnt take that shit trust me more than magazine racks be going down if someone tries to pull that kind of shit with me.

Go back in and ask to speak with the manager, telling him you preordered before they ever were told about the one per customer limit. And if that doesnt work, say its for your sick dying nephew and you just want to make him happy. And that when you went to tell him, that he cried.

Yeah kids work great, take that you target fuckers.

I would ask for the district manager's number, actually.

xsarien said:
Shouldn't you have a receipt that says you pre-ordered two?

He should, but it's a limit of one per customer right now. The thing is, they should've let him know before so he could make preparations to get a second one. Given that his store closed, they never contacted them, etc, etc., it's definitely just bad customer service.

Yeah.

Well, the dude I was bitching at was all apologetic, he called the Manager and Dist Manager, and gave me the guys name and number.

I called him. Left a message..

I wasn't gonna take it out on the guy standing there.
I'm not going back to jail!!
lol

It comes down to "Meh". I'm done with em.

Over 60 PSX games.
2 PSX systems.
3 PS2's
30+ Ps2 games.

....I could go toss em on the DM's Lawn... and burn em.. lol

Or it gets you hauled out by the police.

Maybe if you start yelling or acting violently. But you're not gonna get hauled out for arguing your points..

It's fairly ridiculous to cry foul when EB makes a policy and then enforces it.

I'm sorry you won't have your second PSP to sell on Ebay or to hoard. In fact, I'm sorry pre-ordering has been made necessary by greedy consumers and idiot game companies who manufacture shortages to create a furor and additional publicity. It stinks all around and makes game fans -- legitimate game fans -- seem like retarded children or dullard toy collectors.

Its not ridiculous to cry foul if EB change the rules after he has made a legitimate preorder, and had it confirmed at the new store. Sure, change the rules but don't make it affect existing orders.

I don't necessarily agree with that, but at the very least the store should let the person know so they can make plans to get another one. Back in January, everyone was taking pre-orders. He could've done it at EB, and GameStop if he had to. What if he needs it for a gift? If he's doing it just for eBay or something, then, yeah, that's retarded, but that's not my business, or the business of the people who's selling it. He should have some warning.

The game store managers aren't there to hold a debate. If the store managers are required to stick to the corporate policy, no amount of arguing is going to change that and just detracts from helping the next customer. The stores are private property, and if you're there when they tell you not to be, you're trespassing. I've had the police remove a number of people who carried on after I told them I was through.

Wtf?!
So, you think it's legit to change policy after deals have been made?
They must Looooove you.

As far as reciepts and any legalness.. The reciept doesnt say WHEN I would get one..

The policy likely hadn't been established when you put your money down. No one knew how much the PSP would be, when it would be released, and how many units would be available to sell.

EB likely created its one unit per customer rule when it had concrete information as to those specifics. If you want to think that equals you being screwed, so be it.

Whether you like it or not, stores have the right to limit the amount of merchandise a customer can buy. They have a right to refuse sales and service. And while you might not be happy about not getting your second PSP on day one, I suspect there's a person who just wants one system who's very glad that EB is allowing as many people as humanly possible access to a brand-new game console on its release date.

SOMEONE has sold out to retail in this thread. Guess who?

No, not me. guess again.

Furthermore just because they have the right, doesnt it make it the right thing to do. Id hope that any place I associate myself with would make efforts to remedy the situation so both parties are happy. If there isnt understanding there's just gonna be more I HATE RETAIL PEOPLE THEY SUCK AND ARE DUMB threads and frankly I cant stand many more of those.

That may all be true. However, EB shouldn't have allowed pre-orders until they knew those details. If they allowed pre-orders BEFORE they set their pre-order policy on PSP's that isn't CygnusXI's fault. The bottom line is, if they agreed to sell him two, then they should stick by the agreement.

Just got off the phone with my friend who manages the EB across from UCF in Orlando,
he says to call 1-800-800-5166.

The company has sent e-mails to all managers that "bundling" is not to happen. Sony however is allocating restock of PSP's with all retailers based on tie-ratio. He says they will not sell more than one PSP per customer but you do not have to buy anything with it.

It's unfortunate that there are managers out there like that. I have been friends with him for years and he has a top ranked store, and it's a great place to shop. You need to realize that there are some great EB's out there and this kind of thing happens with every retailer...and every business...some people just do whatever they feel like to get ahead instead of working for it. But at the same time do not stand for it. He loves working for EB and says it's a good company, but like any comapny they have goals and measurables and some managers will do anything to meet them, instead of providing you with good service they are forcing you to buy what you don't want. ALL companies listen to customer feedback. Call the number and tell them you want the DM to contact you ASAP!

Stu, that's all fine and dandy, but I think the underlying issue is that if they're only allowing him to get one, they're not refunding the deposit on the second.

The one per customer rule is a good one, I think. At the same time, ordering yours before the policy has been finalized puts it outside of that policy automatically from all I've ever heard. Isn't that what the grandfather clause is all about? It's like going after someone for doing something a year ago that wasn't illegal until yesterday.

I think either one of two things will happen:

1) The second deposit will be put toward the original PSP.
2) The second deposit will be honored for a second PSP, but not on the first day of sale.

Keep in mind I do not work for EB. I'm only the crazy guy who's sold out to retail!

Bump for The DM coming through.

Had 2 messages from him when I got home last night.
Called him back-- and we chatted..

He informed me that the asst mng screwed up.

1) There is no requirement to buy anything along with the PSP (bundle).
2) That there is no "One per customer" limit. It's THREE limit.

He admitted and apologized for the asst manager doing everything ass backwards.

He then called the asst mng, then called me back, saying that I will have 2 waiting for me at the store.

I ain't gonna go tooting their horn now, but I do give them (or more specifically the DM) props for coming through and doing the right thing.. Disco Stu be damned (j/k).

hypothetically speaking, what if you had a preorder at both stores? one at the closed one, one at the open one, then one preorer gets moved to the other store.. are you just screwed?
