Yet another new Project Gotham Racing 3 screen

Blimblim

The Inside Track
This time it's a close-up on a NY building.

Oh, I almost forgot. Here's another image stolen from the PGR3 internal diary; feast your eyes on this. We present... a close-up shot of some of the buildings in NYC! If this doesn't get UK:R excited, I don't know what will!

Sorry for starting new topic, but yesterday's has been trolled to death.

Very nice - what I like best about it is that there's nothing that immediately jumps out as plain old flat, repeating texture detail

Yay!!! BlimBlim's daily PGR image is here!!

Do you get a dollar for every image you post? ;)

Still, it's real purty.

Hmm... this looks quite amazing. I'm wondering if it's real-time. I sure hope so, but it definitely looks incredible.

He, I wish I got paid for this :p
I'm only *really* excited about PGR3, considering PGR2 is by far the game I played the most this gen.

Looks good, but doesn't seem to have all of the effects the buildings in the UE3 games seem to have. I just wish we could see the game in motion so we could make a judgement.

AMAZING

How do texture artists actually do this? I can't imagine anyone actually creating each and every detail from scratch. I hope and pray for all artists that most of the work is copy & paste from actual photos.

Are we sure this is from the game?

From what it says here it makes me wonder.

It doesn't say "screenshot". It says close-up shot of some buildings in NYC.

I think it's just a picture guys. I would love to be wrong though.

is this apart of that procedural synthesis? even the textures look pretty different / non-repeating. that's if this is truly real-time anyway...

Holy shit!

If that's real-time, I'm very impressed...although I'd gladly take a hit to the buildings for 60 FPS and slightly better car models (the ones in the screens from yesterday just looked off to me).

The Good:

* that's some very, very nice texture work.
* very realistic, reminds me of Max Payne environments (they were "real" too).
* ligthing is almost too good to be true!

The Bad:

* so much for windows having depth (in other words - everything's a texture, not a model).
* nothing else :)

Yeah I'm having some doubts too now. Strange phrasing...

Yeah, I think it's just a picture from the phrasing on that page.

Not trying to be a dick and burst people's bubble - and I could be wrong, but I would hate for misinformation to get out there if this is the case.

From the PS2 versions right? Because I think the "realtime" Getaway PS3 demo looked better than this. Although, we all know that the Getaway was simply a tech demo and not a game at this point.

I am so gonna laugh my ass off if this turns out to just be a real photo sonycowboy.

take a look at a few things that are give aways.. like the fireexits (alpha!) you can tell it's made of sprites

brick textures on the storefronts

the air conditioner not sticking out ;)

edit: or will dopey be owned?! find out next!

Man you're picky. It's a racing game. Why would they need to model the interiors?

Can you imagine GTA with those buildings.

What's UK:R?

How the hell can you tell? The windows look very 3demensional to me.

Well, it would be a very strange picture, Some things look *really* blurry like they would be if they were just mid resolution textures. I hope I did not make a fool of myself with this image, ho well this would not be the first time :p

Looks like it's sticking out to me.

I'm not trying to go out of my way to make you look bad Blim. Know that.

I reversed my post quickly as I didn't think the sarcasm would show through. Which apparently it didn't.

Yeah I am.

Still I give it 9+ out of 10.

Perfect lighting.

There is no way that is a real photo unless they did some crazy things to it in photoshop like remove depth.

Just to compare, here are some buildings from this gen.
I'd say it's a nice jump from this gen.

if the picture Turns out to be real you should not be allowed to post about graphics EVER AGAIN :p

im almost 100% sure it's not a real photo

A lot of things don't have the vibrance of a real photo.

Reflections looking blurry on everything :P, lack of any shadow of the ladder on the far right red sign.

the blurry "textures" here and there

the lack of some depth on some of the bricking and some of the textures

the fake "inside the store" look that PGR games always had

it's impressive

not perfect ;)

Why would they post a real picture of some ratty street in New York though? What's the point?

Polyphony posted real pictures of the Gran Canyon as well as New York.

yah probably a real picture they use for reference. the soft look however does make it look a little bit fake(as in a rendered picture). maybe they deliberately did that.

Yeah I noticed all this. But the phrasing used by the Bizarre guy is really strange.
At least it's interesting that we are actually starting to doubt if it's real or not. If it turns out to be using the game engine, I say we are in for some interesting discussions in the next few years :p

You guys are silly. Obcourse that's not a real photo! All the straight edges of surfaces are perfectly straight! I've never seen that in real life.
