Is it me or is the JetAudio iAudio M3 @ 259.99 just a ridiculously delicous deal?

What gives? Why isn't this player getting much love anywhere? It seems like it's an awesome player for someone wanting an Ipod alternative. The lack of a screen at first bugged me, but the remote more than makes up for it. It's more practical having the screen on a remote anyway, lest you're the type that needs to pull out your player every 5 minutes waving in the air chanting "Mug me, mug me!".

I'm thinking about getting this. What I would like to know is if there any negative things about this player?

You will be excused for fapping to following pic:

what about the samsung yh-920 (something like that)

looks about the same size as an ipod, and is wma and wma-DRM compatible. That would let me dump using itunes (which I'd be forced to do with an ipod)

only killer is whether its interface is any good. Even though the ipod has a crazily simple interface, most other manufacturers still manage to fuck it up.

I have one (i think im the only one here that does) and i love it, the only negative is the (PC) software, its not worth the CD its printed on, if you want a seemlessly sychronised thing where you just plug in your player and it downloads all your new tracks, then look elsewhere.

Thats not to say its hard to get stuff on there, its recognised by windows so you can just use explorer (and store anything you like on it) but you do have to do it yourself.

A lot of reviewers say (and i guess id agree) that the controls take some getting used to, but once you do they are a breeze.

Everything else, the playback, the file type support, the FM radio, the Line-in/FM radio/on board mic recording, the line out support, is great, cant fault any of it.

There is a new one coming with a screen on the unit, picture, and some movie support, but it looks more bulky to me, i wear the M3 on my belt (comes with a holder) and barely even notice it.

I said in another thread that the only time you notice the lack of an on unit screen is when you want to play something while its in its dock, when ever you're moving, or in the car with it you'll be glad the screen is on the remote.

Found the pic of the iAudio M5, no idea when it comes out.

As far as iPod alternatives go we’re rather partial to the iAudio M3—it’s a pretty slick little package—but it turns out Cowon has something even better up its sleeve: the iAudio M5, a 20GB player which looks a lot like the M3, just with a thicker black casing and a color LCD screen for looking at digital photos (it has USB On The Go so you can copy photos over directly from a camera) and “limited support” for video playback (there are no specifics about what formats are supported). The screen looks totally ‘shopped, so it’s hard to say how good it’ll actually be
