I'm planning to do some more traveling this year. I have a new camera for the specific purpose of taking more pictures especially with some of the things I have planned. I decided to start with something simple. I loved the Windows wallpapers with the tulips, and the other one with the green field. I decided it would be a great idea to take some of those pictures on my own while at the same time playing with my camera. The main idea was making my own wallpapers. Especially because of my displays dimensions which rarely allows me to have a wall paper that I like because of the non-standard proportions. I'm starting out obviously and even more embarrassingly obvious is that they are no where near the caliber of some of the other shots. Anyway here is the little I have so far.

All are resized from the 2592X1952.

To be honest, I have no idea. We adopted him, pretty sure he's a dirty rotten mongrel. :lol

My horsey Sarge posing for the camera. I used an aqua fade filter and I thought it turned out pretty cool. =p

These are from when some of my orchids started blooming in the middle of winter (after I brought them inside to protect them from frost). Really whirred. O_x

I took all of these with my new Nikon 3600. I don't really like the camera all too much though because the focus is automatic (I just assumed it was manual when I bought it).

Some amazing shots!

I don't know if my images will show properly, so you might as well head to my fotolog (http://www.fotolog.net/tiago_stille).
I would like it very much.

I'm currently using a Canon Powershot A75.
Great digicam for it's price, except for that damn purple fringing.
This picture by Sledn is very nice, but look at upper right side, at the branches. Purple fringing.
Seems like a common problem with Canon.

Well, the pics:

Just playing with long exposition and a flashlight.

Two strangers on a church by the beach.

Antenas. And a little bird.

Two cents of Real, Brazil's currency.

Dripping fauncet.

Centro Dragão do Mar de Arte e Cultura (A cultural center)

Playing around with my Japanese - Portuguese dictionary.
Shashin = Picture, Photography

That's it.
Thanks for your time.

I'm now at what, 7 AM in an all-nighter and, well, I wanted a picture of the sunrise to remember it by.

I am gonna give a small twist to this thread but don't intend to derail, so just take a look and go back to posting regular digicam shots.

This was not really taken with a digicam, but rather with a crappy VGA phone camera (K700, extended option selected). And this is more like material for that thread from long ago with wierd road signs/signposts from Japan and other places, but oh well.

This was taken at work today. Behind me: A xerox copier. Behine that: A miniature kitchen-like thing. In front of me: food lift. From where, to where? No clue.

Do people still use that term or is this corner in that place just ancient? I work at an institute for scientific research, and a few steps from that you can finds rows of books and some user stations, so this is kinda like a mini library. Why someone whould have a food lift there is beyond me.

I love these threads.
Here's a pair I took taking the train home from downtown Chicago. The window tint gives a very somber hue to these particular shots.

Weird, that's the exact train I take every day. I know exactly where that is.

Thanks. :)

D70 using Nikkor 70-300mm D ED lense (except the first two...50mm).

The first two are not touched up, just sharpened a little to correct the artifacting caused by resizing.

AirBrian, I like the duckies, but my favorite picture is the one of the little blue flowers. ^^ That is cuter than duckies to me for some reason.

You're very good at motion photography, BTW. Whenever I take pictures of birds in flight, they always come out blurred. -__- May I ask what camera you use?

OMG the picture of the donkeys just loaded! I love donkeys. <3

Just wait for it to load, he actually answered that question already (Nikon D70, which gives him control and quicker response to capture a scene like a flying duck).

Anyhoo, AirBrian, I take it you're pretty happy with the D70? I remember your "gimme advice" thread...

I'm stil waiting on a DSLR. Doesn't help that I'm in no position now or in the foreseeable future to drop down $1000Cdn on a camera, but I'm also interested to see Nikon's next step (word of 'entry-level' DSLRs come April is interesting, but in the end we'll see what we get).

In the meantime, here are a few recent shots taken with my stone-age (two-and-a-half-year-old) P&S digicam:

Original size, I hate resizing so I usually shoot my pics on a smalelr size. Their not too good but hell. Pictures have been taken at the Boom Bip concert in Amsterdam.

I really like the lighting in your first pic.

Yeah, I'm very happy with the D70. No remorse at all; plus the extra money saved helped justify my additional lense purchases. :p

I'd definitely wait until Nikon's official announcements of the D50 and D70s at the end of the month. D70s is the slightly better replacement of the D70, and the D50 will be a "toned down" D70 and will also use SD cards instead of CF. Although from reading the D50 manual, it will be very comparable. Rumors are that the D50 will be $699.99, but we'll see. Between Nikon's new cameras and Canon's new cameras, you'll have plenty to choose from.

just saw the Rebel XT at Circuit City the other day, $1000 with a kit lens. I might just go for that instead of the 20D whenever i'm ready to buy a DSLR.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
Finally got some of these fixed up and uploaded. Some cropping was done, and a little exposure adjusting, but that's it I think. They were all (except one) taken with my new Canon S1-IS in NYC, and the camera was(is) brand new so I was still getting used to it. One was taken with an IR filter, and I've barely even begun to mess around with that:

(oh yeah, some of them were taken with my Canon Digital Elph 200 before I got my S1)
