Amadeus is fantastic. You need to watch it.
I agree that it's fantastic, but Amadeus definitely is not a biopic.
Why? I would say it definitely is. One could argue that it's not a conventional one tho.
Because it's pure fantasy. Biopics usually have at least some basis in reality. Amadeus is a phenomenal film, but it's almost entirely fiction.
Period drama? Yes. Biopic? No.
Yeah I know, because there's a lot of biopics that are so much better than that crap (aside from Hardy's great performance)
Goodfellas (da best and my personal favorite)
I agree that it's fantastic, but Amadeus definitely is not a biopic.
I'm gonna say it now for future posterity:
Colin Hanks for the EviLore biopic:

Eh?American Psycho.
Why? Just because it's not 100% accurate with history?
So you're saying Mozart didn't exist, he never lived around the time where the movie plays, all the music is made up, he wasn't a nutter etc? Of course the film is fictionalized and over the top but where do you draw the line? Some soviet era film about the life of Stalin is probably more fantasy then Amadeus.
That a biopic is fictionalized is part of it. They are not the same as docus or docu dramas.
La Bamba and Ed Wood.
It's a phenomenal film. But it's not a biopic. You might as well classify Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter as a biopic if you're going to count Amadeus as one.

this short clip i think sums it up pretty well. the narration is from his diary. that's written in three or four different points of view.

24 Hour Party People.
An unpretentious film about a completely pretentious twat. You'll love it, trust me.
