Your favorite childhood toys

Felt like making a light hearted thread, could use it with all the fuckery going on lately in general. So let's revel in some good natured nostalgia via revisiting our early indoctrination into consumerism!

You can throw in recent "toys" if you like, and yes game systems and the like count. I'll start off:

technodromeday01.jpg

This was my crown jewel, the Technodrome, based on the 90s TMNT cartoon. Folded out for all sorts of action figure roleplaying goodness.

ghostbustersfigs.JPG

The Real Ghostbusters figures, that purple one got the most attention from me, its jaw opened and locked like a mousetrap, when you depressed the tongue it snapped down. Good times. These figures got a ton of attention from me at the time.

Lite-Brite-vintage.jpg

Lite-Brite, doesn't need much introduction for 80s and 90s kids. Simple yet effective time waster for cashing in on "oo pretty lights!"

changeables.jpg

I thought these were so cool, "transformer" figures you'd get in Happy Meals from McDonald's using menu items. Maybe one of my earliest toy memories came from getting these. Collecting them was an event cause, well, trip to McDonald's.

So what are some of your favorites gaf?

I was obsessed with these WWF figures as a child. I was obsessed with wrestling in general, actually, but I especially loved the toys.

And these Trash Bag Bunch toys were fun to get. If I'm remembering them right, they came in pouches and you dunked them in water, let the pouch dissolve, and you had a random figure in there.

Voltron.
2ish foot tall metal robot with plastic accents made up of 5 lion robots.
It was heavy as hell to my 4 year old self, but I defended the universe daily.

I loved this as a kid, I had a few of the knights not sure what happened to the rest

And my other favorite was this jungle gym. I took this thing everywhere. We even set it up on the trampoline and would bounce onto it.

A childhood of playing with Star Wars Action Fleet has lead to a manchildhood of playing with Star Wars Action Fleet.

I still got it though I lost the dino damage piece and its arms (somehow).

I have a ton of Jurassic Park toys but the Young T. Rex was the best.

Took me a beat to realize this was an eco-friendly approach to selling toys, pretty cool. Also decent detail on those figures, nice pick!

Might not be this specific one but I was obsessed with trains. That's all that mattered to me....trains, Barney and yogurt.

I actually never got my Holy Grail of toys. I always wanted one of those black MASK cars with the BTTF-like fold up wheels. I saw kids bring them in to school and stuff but none of my friends had one and I never saw it in stores.

My own personal best toys I think were the Robocop police van, the Batcave playset, and the GI Joe Rolling Thunder scud launcher thing.

Man, I used to have a super well articulated Velociraptor figure that I really liked. All of the limbs had joints and even the mouth and tail were poseable, and it had a base shaped like a dinosaur footprint cast. I'd probably still have it if the foot and jaw joints hadn't broken.

I'm nuts for Bionicle. I collected the toys before they were released in the US and up until the line's death in 2010, and now I'm collecting them again after the recent reboot.

I don't think I had many toys? Other than video games, and not many of those. Maybe a buzz lightyear toy, thats it. I always wanted one of those ones with the utility belt from the second movie.

Found a picture. Thing was badass as fuck until the little plastic joints broke.

This fucking guy. I had a bunch of the dinobots and standard autobots too. Never got Megatron though :(

Used to play with these a ton too.

Others have already posted most of my other ones like TMNT

Had a lot of Star Wars Micro Machines. I loved all of the little sets that got released and saved up what money I had to amass both a Rebel and Imperial army. Also have boxes of the Star Wars Power of the Force figures/vehicles. Those were always my favorite.

Was given a bunch of these by dad as he continued to find them. I would recreate famous battles throughout history. Had guys from the Roman Empire to The Gulf War. I never did paint them though.

Best Batman toys IMO. I was really into The Animated Series.

I didn't have any other sets, did the ship have like a cannon too? that was my favorite part !

Oh yeah!

I still have the old T-Rex from the Jurassic Park movie too. And I also lost his dino Damage piece.

Recently my mother found my old Godzilla figure from years past out in our pool area behind some bushes. Homeslice had been hanging out there for 15 some odd years waiting to come back inside. One of his arms is gone, but I feel he has earned a place in staying with me now.

I still kind of regret not buying that one set that had 40 ships for $40.

Dinosaur toys
The pizza-tossing TMNT van
My dad's old electric train set
Tyco racing track
A little fire truck I'd sit on and wheel around while saying "fire fuck!"

That I owned personally it would be the m.a.s.k. Boulder Mountain.

My favorite that my brother owned was the G.I.Joe aircraft carrier.

Dino Riders. I had the good guys' Diplodocus

These always looked the coolest to me seeing them in stores as a kid, never did get any though. Assumed they were out of my price range for asking, which I guess is silly in retrospect when I got this one xmas:

At that point though I was pretty much off figures in general though :shrugs

What are you TALKING ABOUT.

Well, we would take the jungle gym and put it on the trampoline. Then jump off it on the trampoline or hang on the edge of the jungle gym while people bounced it around on the trampoline. We were pretty crazy kids with the trampoline, my favorite was jumping off the roof onto it and then bouncing into the pool.

It's pretty good luck only my younger brother broke his arm on the trampoline. We soaked it in water to make it bounce higher, then he bounced insanely high but also slipped and went flying around until his arm broke right on the bar when he landed lol

my memory is fussy but i had one of this

An aunt gave me this toy she found at a flea market and it as the greatest, it had a metallic torso so it was really heavy and durable, I loved to make small parachutes for the thing. A few years ago I learned what it is and what series was it from, as a kid I called it "Lava" cause it looked all melted.

Stole my post! Bionicle was the main toy I played with and collected as a kid all the way up to its ending. Picked up Toa Tahu and Kopaka after the reboot.

I loved my Up-Down-Change-Around Roller Coaster. You make your track, and the cars would follow it until the end then go backwards. I loved it so much!

This was probably my favorite toy though:

Holy shit! I have one of those!
My parents would give that to me on long car trips and I'd pretend I was driving.

I broke my Voltron on the same Xmas day I got given him. Gutted.

Yeah the plastic "wings" on the large lion had a tendency to snap off... Which is a shame, most of Voltron was sturdy metal.
Always losing the damn rocket fists/lions underneath the couch too...
