Your Favorite TCG Cards

So, as a small disclaimer, I have been out of the TCG scene for close to 8 years. Between my other hobbies and having to cut back somewhere, I never played with people often enough to find the hobby worth it for me to continue on.

I never lost my love of the TCG scene though, and recently I started creating a list of some of my favorite card artwork from various games that I played, and I thought it would be cool if other people would share some of their favorite cards from any TCG they may currently be playing, or have played and enjoyed in the past. Here are some of my favorite cards from what I have played or collected over the years:

1) Charizard

Charizard%20Base.jpg

I know...it's cliche. Everyone wanted this card as a kid and I was one of the lucky ones to get it in one of my first packs as a child. I remember how I got it like it was yesterday. I was ten years old or so and I was on holiday break with my mother. When I was younger, she would always try to find things to do with me when we were on vacation, so one day in the middle of break she took me out to the mall and she bought me a few packs of the base set and then took me to Burger King (which has been LONG gone for about 15 years or so now.) I remember how I was eating my chicken tenders and I opened the first pack and out pops this fucker. I started freaking out and crying and my mom pretended to be happy for me. This is only the start of my Charizard story though.

A few weeks later, I had brought all of my Pokemon cards to my cousin's house who I looked up to as a kid (he's about 4 years older than I am), and I decided to show him my shiny new Charizard. Now that I look back on it, it was abundantly clear that he was envious of me owning one, and after I had left his house I noticed that Charizard was missing from my binder. I have NO IDEA HOW THIS HAPPENED. Even to this day, if I try to think about it I don't know how he got his hands on it. I kept that binder close to me at all times. I don't even remember setting it down. I remember crying my eyes out and then getting a call that they found my card, and it was "In a potted plant in the bushes." Fuck that, no it wasnt. He got his grubby hands on my Charizard. After that, I put my Charizard into one of those plastic card holders and he still sits there to this day. I'll never sell him, and he is still to this day one of my prized posessions.

2) Gemeni Elf

One of the first super OP Yugioh cards that I can remember. That 1900 ATK and searchablilty due to the low defense made this monster a tank in the Yugioh Scene for a long while. I was never particularly into the art of the card, but you were definitely hot shit if you had it in your deck.

3) Harpie Lady

The boobs blew my mind.

4) Dark Magican Girl

The boobs blew my mind again.

5) Chaos Emperor Dragon

This is one bad ass motherfucker right here. Dude was so clutch he was basically banned the instant he came out. Shout out to this guy as well:

I actually owned him and used him frequently. Another one of my proudest moments in Yugioh history.

I have quite a few more that I love, but I want to see cards both new and old that you may love or use regularly. Digital games (Harthstone, ect.) are cool as well!

I loved Yugioh, and would still like to play. Unfortunately, it seems like everyone who does play now is extremely weird and not in a good way. (No offense to anyone who does here, could just be my local scene)

Might post some individual cards later.

Dude was the engine in my ever-evolving Frog in a Blender variant I ran for an 8 week winning streak at FNMs back in the Invasion/Odyssey standard.

The "fuck you" stares I'd get when he came down turn 2 were glorious.

One of my all-time favourites. Played a deck w/ this at Regionals and finished 9th. Missed T8 because in the first round I got paired up against the guy I did all my playtesting with, who made otherwise bad plays (like not playing land on the first few turns to discard high CC cards) b/c he knew what he was up against.

I play a lot of jank, though. I had a great deck that was a two-turn kill with Godo, Bandit Warlord. I also played Dovescape, Doubling Cube/Door to Nothingness, and Warp World decks competitively. Mirrodin and TS blocks were def my favourites for weird-yet-viable combos. Endless Whispers + Phage to kill people. A weird variant on the old Full English Breakfast deck using some other Doppleganger I can't remember. Even Mindslaver + Vedalken Orrery + Trade Secrets.dec won me an FNM! Edit: I have a lot of stuff I want to link but don't want to flood the thread haha.

Most of my collection was hand-me-downs. I got this out of the only Pokemon TCG pack I bought as a kid. I didn't understand the concept of sleeves, so... I laminated it. At least it's resistant to water now?

In all seriousness there was a thing a month back where people were posting their four most meaningful Magic cards on Twitter and such. My all time favorite is probably still

In hindsight, I'm amazed every game of Pokemon didn't just end in decking due to the insane amount of free card draw the game had

I'm sure there is a theme among all these cards, but I haven't quite identified it yet

Oh man. I wish I had my old collection with me at college.

I hope this thread stays around long enough for me to snag some pics when I can.

I have a ton of favorites in MTG, but I'm guessing they'll get posted by others.

This card was extremely rare in a little played game called Blood Wars. I was lucky enough to get one from a pack, and it ensured that none of my friends wanted to play with me.

That's a really tough question... (Love the "roid" archtype on YGO, even tho they're trash tier lol)

Narrowing it down, I think Drillroid would take the cake. That smirk is too nice lol

Well almost all the cards are like are because I either like the creature or because I think the art is nice.

That belongs in a museum! Man this card feels so good when played at the right moment.

I know it is a CCG more than a TCG but whatever.

Badass Tony Taka artwork and a crazy skill. Team up with Ordain Owl to wreck shit.

This card from the new Royal Paladin trial deck is pretty fun. Been using the Japanese version for a couple of months and he's a great way to get extra attacks out, or just refill the field with no cost.

Cards are from Cardfight!! Vanguard, btw.

Tuesday in Modern I played someone's control deck that won with various Doubling Season and Planeswalker combos. They won the first game by playing Doubling Season followed by Jace, Architect of Thought who, when entering with double loyalty, gets to ultimate immediately. With the ultimate he gets Emrakul from his deck, casts it, and kills the opponent during the extra turn. It was amazing. Clunky as hell and embarassing that my no fun allowed Affinity deck let him get there, but amazing.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
In my first Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh Booster I ever bought when I was like 13, I pulled THIS card:

This is the English version, but the Japanese version is nude and showing her breasts. I FREAKED out, because I didn't want my parents to see it, and then took it to school with me and showed all my friends. Needless to say, I ended up walking home that day with a lot of rare cards I had traded a dude with.

My favorite is Restoration Angel.

She kind of does everything. She is already a perfectly respectable creature with her base stats as a 3/4 flyer for 4 mana. However, since she has Flash you can do way more shenanigans when combined with the Flicker effect on another creature. I also adore flicker effects in general. Here is a sample of the stuff you can do:

- You can play her as a surprise blocker to eat an opponent's attacking creature
- You can keep mana up during your opponent's turn to counter something and if they don't do anything play her. Or if you're playing one of my favorite decks I've played, you counter a spell with Rewind, untap four lands, then play her anyway.
- You can save another creature from a removal spell or from dying in combat by flickering it in response.
- You can rebuy enter the battlefield effects on other creatures. Most obnoxiously on a Thragtusk, but more respectably on Snapcaster Mage.

A subtle classic, a card that has endured the test of time. It's exotic and has a long, long history (both in real life and in the game), and is IMO the best card a longtime fan of the game can have put in a frame and set on your desk at home or work. I played with this thing not too long after it came out, and have been playing with it ever since. It's not like some of the other power cards that are clearly broken, its power is much more muted than that but it can still break a match wide open.

Runner-up: Mana Drain, which shares similar sort of quiet potency but lacks the wonderful art and historical reference.

This card is the reason I made a Madolche deck and it's now my favorite archetype. It's just so extremely adorable.

Having a hard time finding better pics, but I was always a fan of the Cooler cards that came with the VHS copies of those DBZ movies.
