Your PSP Wish List

I agree with borghe on the other list. All multiplayer games need an infrastructure mode. No excuses.

Yeah, sony is definitely dragging their feet in this regard. GTA LCS' multiplayer mode not being online is a friggin crime against humanity!

More retro-gaming packs, or downloadables

We have Capcom and Taito collections coming, and Midway and Namco already. Next we need Atari, Konami, and I'd personally love to see a Universal or Cimematronics collection as well. Plus, many missing games from the manufacturers who already have collections out. Add to that another Pinball Hall of Fame title with Bally/Midway/Williams games this time.

Yeah, we really, really need an Atari collection on the PSP. I just hope that if Digital Eclipse does it (they usually do Atari's and Midway's compilations), they do justice to the games and allow them to be played at one-to-one pixel resolution rather than forcing the widescreen stretch (as they apparently did with most of the games on Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play).

Konami did a pretty nice arcade game collection on GBA (as did Atari, also), so I'd like to see something from them.

I'd also like to see Activision Anthology (the producer of the PS2 version said a while back that they might do a PSP version), and a Sega arcade game compilation.

Also, we know the PSP can download content to a memory stick. How about a XBL Arcade type model where we can buy individual games for a smaller fee?

More games on PSP should do downloadable content. Wipeout Pure proved that the concept works.

In addition to content for existing games, I'd like to see them start rolling out some downloadable demos!

A WWI dogfigting game

I may just be trying to recreate an old Lynx experience here, but wouldn't this make a great ad-hoc network game?

Heck, yes! Warbirds on Lynx was awesome! Just imagine how such a game would look on the PSP!

A space flight game would be welcome, as there aren't too many of those around on any of the systems. I'm surprised Sony hasn't revived Colony Wars from the PlayStation (there were rumors of an online Colony Wars game in development for a while back). BattleSphere for the Jaguar (a rare but excellent game very few people have played) is another game that could be used as an influence. "Alone Against the Empires" mode in that game, with its mild strategic elements (reminiscent of Star Raiders), would make a good model for a single-player mode--with much better graphics and sound on PSP, of course.

Legitimize homebrew - Sony needs to get out the equivalent of Net Yaroze or the PS2 Linux kit. Put out a sanctioned hobbyist dev kit that runs on PC/Mac and can create eboots recognized as safe to run off memory stick in a future firmware update. Maybe it wouldn't give access to all PSP internal systems, but enough to allow stuff like squarez, bookr, PSP Chess and so forth to still be built and distributed directly within the PSP online community.

That's a great idea, too. Like you said, they would need to have some way of accepting submissions and verifying the content as "safe."

Emulators (of other systems) are a major attraction here. The hitch is that "open" emulators would likely get shot down for a public release, as Sony wouldn't want to be perceived as promoting potential piracy.

One solution would be to enable users to download a free emulator of a classic video game platform, then sell single classic games over the Internet (possibly through Sony Connect, like they do for songs) with the original publisher's blessing for $1 or $2 each. That way, a gamer could get $20 and create his own classic game compilation on a Memory Stick.

For this to work, the emulator would have to be "closed," so that it could be used only with "sanctioned" ROM images (meaning purchased online and utilizing some form of digital rights management). So, someone couldn't just get the emulator and then go crazy downloading pirated ROMs elsewhere. Something like this could also be extended to PlayStation 3, and the sanctioned ROM images could be easily transported between PS3 and PSP by simply taking the Memory Stick from one system and inserting it into the other.

No more current gen titles cheaply scaled down ( SW: BF 2 and Burnout ) and then have Sony gouge us for 49.95.

I bought my PSP in late August, bought Ridge Racer day one and haven't bought (or had a desire to) buy anything since. The software is too expensive. I did, however buy 5 UMDs for like 15 bucks a pop.

The only game I would spend 49.95 bucks on would be a BRAND NEW RE made SPECIFIC for the PSP.

Ok, rant over. :D

If companies aren't willing to make new games, then give us enhanced ports-no more goddamned no frills PSX/2 ports that aren't worth the 50bux.

Official Sony large analog nub replacements and D-Pad covers

Some 2D platformers

*Confirmed PSP Features*

-Macromedia Flash Movie/Game/Software Support
-Instant Messenger Features
-Keyboard Support
-PSP Camera
-More Gaming Mic Support
-Voice/Video Chat Support
-More Downloadable Demos/Games

Very interesting additions. But I wish they would add a pop-up window blocking feature for the PSP webbrowser as well, and make it faster.

New Klonoa.
2D Castlevania.
2D Sonic.
Yes. After seeing Rockman X (+ Rockman*2 demo and EXIT) it really makes it clear that those recent CV and Sonic games would have really benefitted from the PSP. RMX is just soooooo sharp, colorful, clear and beautiful. I might go so far as to say that it is the most beautiful PSP game to date. It looks incredible in motion. We need MORE games like this ASAP. A new Klonoa would be absolutely isnane on PSP.

60 fps + 2.5D visuals are what the PSP was born to do. Goku Makaimura is going to rock!

Yeah. I hate it when SONY sets the prices for LucasArts & EA titles. Have they no shame?

:P

Localizations for: Twelve Sengoku Houshinden, Valkyrie Profile ~Lenneth~, Suikoden I & II, Exit, Landstalker and SMT: Persona.

More Square Enix and Nippon Ichi support.

NiGHTS Into Dreams port/remake.

Panzer Dragoon Saga port/remake.

Snatcher and Policenauts ports/remakes.

More 2D platformers (Sonic Rush would've been so much better on the PSP. I want more room length-wise, not height-wise).

More original properties from Western third parties (lazy asses).

Greatest Hits line launching, and more $40CDN titles.

Continued firmware updates as often as they've been in the past 6 months.
