1. Gladiator
2. Sin City
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
4. The Last Samurai
5. The Bourne Identity

Honorable Mentions: LOTR Trilogy, Bourne Supremacy, X2, Spiderman 2, Road to Perdition, Passion of the Christ

Gladiator and Sin City just stand far and above the rest.

5. Sin City: Beats out some worthier contenders for sheer popcorn value (beats Kill Bill outright)
4. O Brother Where Art Thou: It's hard to believe the Coens are also responsible for the Ladykillers.
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: If Jim Carrey never made another "Jim Carrey comedy, I wouldn't feel at all bad about it.
2. Amelie: A movie that just makes you feel good. And Audrey Tautou est belle.
1. The Pianist: Yes.

Honorable mentions:

Spellbound (best documentary -- I've seen -- in the time frame, but there's a lot i haven't)

Fellowship of the Ring (A fantastic way to open the trilogy)

Hero (Beautiful to watch)

Memento (Gets a bit old IMO on repeated viewings, but a fantastic film)

-Snatch (UK)
So rich and wicked. Amazing screenplay, basically any scene is quote worthy.

-Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (FR)
The attention to details is mind blowing, lovely and quirky characters, very nice score, very enjoyable movie.

-Save The Green Planet (KR)
Such a flash. Just when I thought "I've seen it all", this movie teached me how little I knew. Dark comedy, thriller, twisted psychology, clarification of evolution, plot twisting on a planetary scale ... this movie got it all.

-Sen To Chihiro No Kamikakushi (JP)
Miyazaki forever!

-The Lord Of The Rings (NZ)
I've never been much into fantasy, but those movies are brilliant ... instant classics for sure.

Honorable mentions: City Of God, The Incredibles, Old Boy, Shaolin Soccer
