Ys II Complete Eng. patch released in two days!

At the risk of sounding completely clueless...what system is the game/translation for? Is it PC?

I've never gotten into Ys but the screens he linked to looked fantastic!

I am pretty sure it is PC, where do I buy it?

Is it only sold over-seas? Can you buy it in the US?

How do I make sure that I am buying the right version that works with the English patch?

shop.himeya.com might have some copies... the deluxe pack is PRICEY (PC games are very expensive in Japan). I will still pick it up since I'm a huge fan of the Ys series, even though I'm a relatively new convert (played my first Ys game - Ys Book I and II, on the Duo just last year).

Don't have time to write too much, as I've got shit to do, but to quote Mejilan from the official Oath in Felghana thread...

There are two versions of Ys I Complete and Ys II Complete. There are the CD-Rom versions, and the DVD-Rom versions (I just got the DVD versions today.) DVD versions have higher fidelity music. That's it. Ys I & II Complete can be installed on Win98/ME/XP. There are NO separate OS versions. Your CDs or DVD will work on all 3 OSes.

Ys I & II Eternal are more antiquated versions NOT supported by the RIGG patches. Don't get them. Uglier graphics, and no english compatability.

Ys I & II were also once released as a Limited Edition package that actually installed together and ran off each other, meaning, when you beat Ys I Complete, it'd continue into Ys II Complete (just like Ys Books I & II on the Turbo CD did.) Eventually, the games were commercially released separately, and now install as 2 separate games without that linkage.

I do believe it is almost impossible to find the LE bundle anymore. I certainly couldn't.

The up and coming new patches from RIGG will restore LE functionality to the separate complete games.

So, to make a long story short, get any version (CD or DVD, LE bundle or individual games) of Ys COMPLETE, and you're home free. Ys Eternal... avoid.

You can purchase them directly from Falcom's website, or from Himeya Shop.

Now, somebody get to translating Oath in Felghana and Ark of Napishtim PC! >_<

I doubt we'll ever see Napishtim translated, as the guy who was working on it got hit with a hefty lawsuit.

That sucks ass. Was it Konami of America? Because if they want to release the unaltered PC version over here, that's fine with me. I'll gladly buy it again in English. But I won't buy the shit-tacular PS2 version. I want the PSP version, but I'd love to have the PC version in English.

PS2 version is not that bad. I finished it recently and had a great time. I have a brief history with the franchise, having played through I and II on the Duo years ago, and Wanderers from Ys III on Super NES, and I liked Ark well enough. It reminded me of the old days of gaming a lot, I know that's one reason I enjoyed it so much.

No, here's the thing; Have you played the PC version? It's light years better than the PS2 version (I've played both). The PS2 version has low-res, zoomed out, bad 3D character models as opposed to the big and beautifully animated sprites from the PC version. The PS2 textures are also muddy as hell compared to the high-res textures in the PC version. Don't get me wrong; I love Ys VI, but the PS2 version is ass compared to the original.

Excellent news. Now just give me an English patch for DQIII Reprise and Tengai Makyo Zero for the Super Famicom and I'm HOME FWEE!!!! :D

No, I have not played the PC version, I live in America, and don't know Japanese. It does look absolutely beautiful though. You seemed to imply you live here too, but your username has a Japanese flavor to it-if you know Japanese, I'm sure you got a much fuller experience out of it than I would. I really have no interest in playing a game, even moreso an action-RPG, if I couldn't understand a single word of it.

If an English patch ever does come out though, I'm on it.

The PC version of Napishtim is superior to the PS2 (and likely, the upcoming PSP) versions, but since it likely won't ever get translated to English, the point is moot with most of us here. I have the PS2 version only, and despite Konami's butcher (which I've never failed to mention in Ys 6 Napishtim threads), it was an excellent game.

Another import shop that *might* have Ys I Complete and/or Ys II Complete at cheaper prices and *do* ship much faster than Himeya is www.japanpa.com

I got Ys I Complete and Ys II Complete from Himeya, and it cost me and arm and a leg. I got Ys - Oath in Felghana from japanpa for cheaper (relatively), and took THREE business days to arrive, versus Himeya's week and a half.
