Yu-Gi-Ohl Master Duel is tearing up the Steam charts.

Never played it, don't know much about it.
So to my surprise it's currently #1 global top grossing on Steam and peaking at 219k concurrent players.

99% of the year CS:GO holds the top spot as sorting this way includes every aspect of the title, individual game sales, DLC, in-app purchases & Steam market. It may drop below new triple A releases and games like Apex Legends when they kick off a new season for a few hours or a day. That's what is happening with Naraka & Dota2

What we're watching here is not the norm, so there's some insane spending going on right now. PUBG is usually jostling for #2 on the list.
Thought I'd share this oddity and moment in time.

It's Reeeeeaaalllllly good. Packs are super weird but the crafting system in maybe the most generous of any major simulator for a TCG.

I hate that this is putting money in Konami's pockets.

Oh snap this after looking into this might be the best Yu-Gi-Oh game since that unofficial one that was on freeware sites in the mid 2000s where you would have random card battles

I'm aways up for Yu gi Oh. Is it any good?
My last Yu gi Oh was the championship for DS and I still play it of how fun is to fight against CPU.

It's pretty good so far. Me and my friends always build stupid ass decks to duel each other. I've been scrapping everything Pendulum and Link related, because fuck that.

Also, PS5 players have to play the PS4 version to play with PS4 players, which is lame. For deck building the searching function in Legacy of the Duelist was much better, especially when searching for cards related to other cards.

PS Plus users also get 50 free tickets on the store to use for Legendary Packs.

Those free packs are ass btw. But you get 50 from both PS4 and ps5 so 100 total.

Yeah I used most of the cards from them for crafting materials.

How do you get the PS4 free packs? On the PS5 I searched in the store and could only find the PS5 version. Might try looking on my PS4.

you can use the ps app to get the PS4 packs and download the PS4 version of the game to your system. Launch it and you'll get the packs

*Plays Ranked*
Ranked players who payed for decks already: *Summons a dozen or so monsters on their first turn*
Me: *Plays Celtic Guardian and ends turn.*

They should see my Blue-Eyes deck.

You don't need to pay anything to have a solid combo deck. You get enough free gems from launch to put together a nice crusadia deck or something like goki

You've acted my trap card
I summon you Blue Eyes White Dragon!

Yugioh was fun back on the PS2, maybe I'll try this. Can you play against CPU/bots?

Same. I think everyone that plays it is a dweeb. Yet I enjoyed
Yu-Gi-Oh%21_Forbidden_Memories_Cover.png

So fuck it, might as well try it.

That was a good game, with great production values for its time, interesting story, and challenging battles.

What Konami just released is a shitty, pay to win trash fest. I miss the older Yu-Gi-Oh games like Sacred Cards and Reshef of Destruction.

I started playing duel links when it released yrs ago, love it. Then I realized what p2w and whales where and quit. Don't know if this game is just like that but I will never play another Yu-Gi-Oh game.

Recently made a Toon deck and it's so much fun to use. Made it to Silver 3 today and won about 8 duels.

I'm hoping they raise the deck limit to more than 20. That's far too low.

I was playing this game over the weekend and it's pretty fun. I'm not much of a fan these crazy combos as I was more into the OG stuff but I'm slowly picking it up as I go.

I love the cross play they have so I can just pull out my switch during lunch break. Love the new deck building system.

Been playing for a few days and no way am I gonna play online...the game is just too different from what I played in my youth.

It's seems so targeted towards FTK now and there's so many new monsters I'm all "insert Jackie Chan wut.jpg"

Legit, One guy had some magician deck that would just draw into the Exodia cards on his first turn. I don't have the enough AssBurgers to pull off half the shit people seem to be doing.

Have you guys tried easing yourselves in through the Solo mode first? You'll get some nice cards that way like Raigeki and its still tons of fun playing the CPU, slowly building up your deck. Then afterwards you can spend gems on building a competitive multiplayer deck.

Obviously if you haven't played in 10 years you're gonna get combo'd on by meta tryhards.

Despite my Toon deck that kicks the shit out of a lot of decks and throws people off, not going first for most duels is such a bore. SO many decks chain for so long and it's just unfun sitting there despite the times where I know I can win.

Seriously though, nothing is better than just taking your opponent's card after they spend 5 minutes on their first turn to getting it on the field. Comic Hand says thanks!

Getting matched with a player that runs less meta or boring decks is rare, but is great when it does happen. Dueled a few Red-Eyes decks as well as some Dark Magician decks. Even had someone using a Harpie Lady deck that was fun to play against.

On another note, this game made me get back into my Tag Force 5 game on my PSP. Even limited to just bot duels, the duels are so much better on average. Only sucks that anything past 2010 is absent (though most of the newer cards are so damn specific and only work for one deck style). So I do miss out on the Vampire cards, Aroma cards, and in general newer additions to Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes for example.

The new toon stuff is crazy. The deck literally just has snatch steal at 3! Toon Kingdom does so much for the deck too.

I havent played Yu Gi Oh in idk, 15 years+ lol, is there any chance I'll have fun with this or has the game changed too much? Figured ill give it a go if theres a "story mode"

last yugi oh game i played was sacred cards for the gba i think

This is probably the best YGO game ever release, if you play the solo mode, you can have at least 2 complete deck by drawing the secret packs (go read guide). As long as you are willing to follow the meta, it will take you a long way. Bronze to Silver ranks are pretty fun, people are just trying out their card, once in a while you get some tryhard that copy and paste tournament deck.

It is a great game, the only complain is that a lot of strong deck take like a few minutes for the first round, and every deck is design to OTKO, completely lock you out of spell effect, trap and spell. If you want to build your own deck, you would have to build around the meta or get destroy. Also every card have a freaking essay as their effect description.
