I backed this too, didn't hesitate even for a millisecond, I'm so glad they got the money needed to do something cool with all this. THIS was my childhood! Not Mario and NES or anything like that. It was all about C64 and Amiga 500 for me, and The Last Ninja and System 3 in general is a big part of that.

and many other dev/publishers of that era.

Agreed. And they need to do it fast, while they still can, cassettes and floppies aren't going to survive forever, and these old devs are getting… well… OLD! Don't know how many in leading positions that are still in the industry.

Never played any of those games, except Karate Champ people brought up. Only played it a few times in the arcade and had no idea what I was doing with those twin stick moves. lol

As Fess said in OP post, good on System 3 for surviving. Never played their games and looking at their history of games made and published, I dont think they make big selling games skimming the list (at least not now).

But they must have very good budgeting and dev cost structure. Googling it, it says they got less than 25 employees.

Awesome game. Was never great at it in the arcade when I was a kid. I'd get to level 2, but flame out. Not sure I even got to level 3.

Getting over those jumps in the swamp on the first game and getting the angle just right for the dragon and the smoke bomb too.
