Zelda gamecube get a name

I think it's a joke. I think that from the very beginning they wanted this one to have more of a mass-market appeal, and this name doesn't help at all.

Nintendo and Microsoft are trying to outdo each other in creating worse buzz.

eh, this is the only thing that qualifies as bad buzz for nintendo and it might not even be true. It doesn't come close to PD0 and DOA.

That isn't so bad of a name.

I like the word Twilight in general.

It would sound better if it were like The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Prince or something.

but yea.... at least it isnt a musica instrument or a piece of clothing, haha

It's not impossible and it kind of fits. The moon features prominently in most Zelda media and the cloaked figure could be a woman.

I can imagine the english name being 'The Legend Of Zelda: Moon Maiden' or something to that effect.

It seems a little strange since a string of Zeldas have been named after the respective game's main item but that wasn't always the case.

Zelda names are ROUTINELY different for the US and Japan.

Remember "The Legend of Zelda: Acorn of the Mysterious Tree"?

Toki No Ocarina = Ocarina of Time
Majora No Kamen = Majora's Mask

They're not that different - in fact they're practically direct translations.

edit: Well actually it was "Mujura" in Japanese...so maybe just one instance.

Hmmm. That is definitely a GameInformer layout. The '06 typo is a bit glaring, though. I think it may ne legit, though. The new GI should be out in a week or so.

Yes because a name like "Ocarina of Time" is sooo manly.
So fucking true. I hate these people that say "that subtitle is so gay!" just like Star Wars faggots. Get a grip, it doesn't change the interior of the game whatsoever.

I would have preferred something without the word Princess. They've already got Princess Peach... and I've never thought of Zelda as Princess Zelda even though she is one. It's always been Zelda.

What I'm most intrigued by, however, is the wolf mechanic. Link changes into the beast. I don't know how this plays into the storyline or the adventure, but I'm really, super psyched to give this mechanic a try. I can just imagine running around huge worlds on all fours, howling at the moon. I wonder if Link will be forced into a change when the moon shows itself? Maybe he's cursed. Perhaps the storyline is influenced by the movie Ladyhawke. In that film, the hero of the story turned into a wolf by night and the woman he was in love with turned into a hawk by day. The two of them could only see each other in human form for a split second before one of them turned into an animal. How cool would it be if the Link and Zelda dynamic functioned in a similar way? I really can't wait to find out if it runs that deep or if Link can merely change into the wolf whenever players desire. Either way, I'm itching to try it out.

Zelda TP?

Seriously...did nintendo even think?

I kinda like it as a name, but as a marketing tool it seems like a dud.

Maybe they'll play with it a little depending on the plot... "Twilight Empress" could work... but then again, that'd be Legend of Zelda: TE, and bring back memories of NBA Jam. "Link's ON FIRE!"

the legend of zelda: princess of the light

err i dont know anyway it would be cool if the cloaked figure is some mysterious kidnapper ,suffering from some disease, who takes zelda and basically orders link to find him a cure and stuff. yeah id like that...oh yeah i would.

Don't really dig having Princess in the title, but I can live.

I would have called it The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Symphony (or something like that)

I would have called it that too, if it were a Castlevania game.

It hit me before I hit the post button, but yeah, Twilight Nocturne...

Oddly enough though, I came up with that name (Twilight Symphony) about eight years ago or so for a nifty (or so I thought anyway) manga story I was drawing up, so...Castlevania robbed me :)

What's up with Xbots pulling out the traditional Ninfanboy methods of damage control? This is fucking bizarro world.

Yeesh, this thread certainly highlights the sour insecurities of some people on the board :lol

Interestingly enough, Wind Waker got an even larger backlash when it was unveiled

"Wind Waker doesn't sound epic enough :( My title, 'Legend of Zelda: Ballad of the Fallen Rangers' is far more fitting! *resumes Shiek fanfic*"

Seriously, the more I see the name the more I think it sounds nice. It doesn't too "Xtreme" or "machoor." It actually reminds of old Zelda subtitles--before we had OoT, MM, and WW, we had stuff like A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening. Twilight Princess doesn't sound much different than those.

Cube-Europe has obtained a partial list of Nintendo's planned software offerings for the 2006 lineup. To clarify, the fiscal year 2006 starts on April 1 of 2005 and ends March 31st of 2006.

damn that sucks, that could very well mean that new Zelda game is a march release 2006 like wind waker :(

Twilight Princess sounds good... at least it's not another subtitle built around a central object (Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Minish Cap, etc). And what's this about a possibly fake scan? Can I get a PM?

Why can't this scan get posted? in this day and age we get nothing but baseless speculation and unsubstantiated rumors. Now finally we get a rumor that MIGHT be true, and now it can get posted!?!
