As part of its quarterly earnings report today, Zynga announced that it has acquired California-based free-to-play game maker Zindagi Games for an undisclosed sum.

Zindagi is currently operating games like Yummy Gummy and Crazy Kitchen, matching games that would easily fit into Zynga's catalog of "casual" offerings. This deal seems like a move to bolster Zynga's capabilities in that regard, in much the same way its acquisition of Rising Tide Games last fall was pitched as a way to sharpen the beleaguered game giant's "social casino" game business.

Both acquisitions are well in line with the goals laid out for Zynga last year by founder Mark Pincus, who noted that amid trying times the company had "narrowed" its focus to five genres of games: racing, invest and express, action strategy, social casino and casual.

While Zindagi is currently best known for creating "casual" match-3 games, it has a long history of contributing to a variety of projects, including collaborating with Sony to develop the PlayStation Move motion controller and PlayStation Move games like Sports Champions and Medieval Moves: Deadmund's Quest.

I think they were making PS4 games at one point? I remember them posting a job listing for something like that.
